If the PATS transponder crystal is missing from the key that key will no longer start the car. Hopefully you still have the other key, if you only have the one key you will need to tow the car to a dealer and get new keys cut and programmed to your Mustang. It's really sad that dealer gets key blanks for $8.00 and it only takes about 12 minutes to program but unfortunately you will probably get porked around $60 per key. If you live in a larger city I hear there are locksmiths that have purchased equipment to program the car, maybe you could call around and find someone to do it cheaper.

You could also tape the transponder next to the lock cylinder. It will always start then. But it will also start for anyone else as well.....
