got a speeding ticket back in april, im not sure what the cop said exactly, but i remember something about going to court, and theres a court date on my ticket.

but anyways, they sent me a mail and said the fine was $160. and i paid for it immediately.

now the question is.....do i still have to go to court for this? or do i only go to court if i want to contest this ticket?

thanks

Paying the fine is essentially pleading guilty. You should have had to sign something on the ticket and send it in with your payment.

That should be all you have to do.

However, if you are not sure what he said; There are situations when you HAVE to appear in court, and all jurisdictions are different. If it were me I would call the court and make absolutely sure. A phone call is a lot less hassle than having your license suspended or a warrant issued for your arrest.

The municipal court where I live has public records available online. I can view a speed ticket and see whether or not the case is finished with a plea of guilty and fines paid simply by checking the website. If yours does you may be able to check it that way.

No, if you paid the ticket, it is the same as admitting guilt and you don't have to go to Court. It is too late to contest the ticket if you have already paid for it.

Generally, you only go to court to contest the ticket.

I would call them to see for sure..I wouldn't think you would have to go to court if you paid it already
