I am an Indian.I've got brown skin.I'd gone snorkeling the other day and when I returned,I found I'd developed a horrible tan all over my body and that has got me really worried.I prefer fair skin and now I've become darker than before.I'd also like to tell you that I am In Hawaii and I really don't want to miss out on anything. We're planning to go boogie boarding this weekend and I'm quite apprehensive.I really don't want to get any darker.Since I've got dark skin originally, will the tan be permanent? How long will it take for it to go away? What do I do to remove the tan?Do you think I should just cancel my plans to go boogie boarding?
Please help!

?? Hugghh?? I would love to have a deep brown skin... really... it looks so much nicer and healthy than fair skin colour..., anyway I am not white like Europeans, but also not very brown.
What´s wrong about having a dark skin??
many people prefer it and try everything to get deep dark brown...
You should accept your skin just as it is (I also have to do so).
If you want to avoid to get browner for any reason, well, use a sun blocker and you won´t get tanned.
To cancel activities for such a stupid reason sounds horrible.
You should have fun and live your life and accept yourself just as you are!!!

Generally people want a tan and would do anything to keep it longer. I don't really know what you could do, but they sell these creams which make your skin a bit lighter.. more like a fair colour. And if you use it for a week, you'll become a bit lighter.

if u dont want darker skin then maybe u should cancel "boogie boarding". it helps if u put alpha hydroxy cream on it, to exfoliate the top layer of teh skin. but stay out of the sun when u use this cream. also taking antioxidant vitamins helps protect u more from sunburns. (vitamin c and e)

i'm of mexican heritage ( i'm brown too) and i used to be really dark but am now fair skin, tans tend to diminish as u getg closer to fall or winter, just use lotsa sun block, if its spf 15 u gotta re-apply every 15 min, if its spf 45, u gotta re-apply every 45 min, and so on, get water proof if u are going in the water so u can further protect ur skin!

gal_wid_brains? Look honey, the tan will fade back to your original tone after a while, but why not embrace it? Guys (me too) appreciate a tanned female. So what's the problem? Go with it!

Don't get so obsessed about whether or not you have a tan. The tan will eventually fade. Use a high level tanning lotion, and it will help some.
