I recently read about this drink called X-Rated Fusion Vodka, it's Vodka infused with blood orange, mango, and passion fruit. Has anyone ever tried it? It sounds good and I was thinking I might want it as a filling in a wedding cake, mixed in the buttercream, something exotic and unexpected. All adult reception, no kids. Or I might just do pineapple filling since it's pretty simple and common.

unfortunately not many people have your adventurous palette to me the vodka filling sounds fabby but maybe for a dinner party you could use this recipe, for a wedding cake its a bit too daring also pineapple is too acidic ,mango and passion fruit with maybe a peach liquor would mix quite well and wouldn't taste too strong as vodka but would still have that hint of alcohol ,enjoy your day and congratulations

It sounds very good. Talk to your cake baker and see if they can even do it. If you do use it, I would use it only on one layer and make sure people know what is in it, some people have Mango allergies. Otherwise, try using a different one of the fruits in each layer, or have several bottles of the vodka available for guests to mix drinks with, or maybe offer a shot of vodka with your cake or punch!!! I'd answer more, but I gotta run to the liquer store and try this stuff!!!

Although that does sound good, remember a lot of people do not like raw alcohol flavours in things, and for people like me it could signal danger, if I even so much as sniff vodka I become a raging lunatic lol.....I love the idea of orange, mango and passion fruit though. Also, you can't beat chocolate or vanilla (with real vanilla pods) flavours, the pineapple also sounds very interesting, how about doing that with a coconut flavour cake, very tropical.

I would go with something simple instead. Here are some reasons why:
1) You don't know if any of your guests do not consume alcohol in any form. They won't be able to enjoy the cake if this is the case.
2) Sometimes when you go with something exotic, it does not turn out as planned. When my brother got married, their cake was BEAUTIFUL but it was some crazy flavor I cannot remember and it was just awful! Yuck!

It sounds interesting but I'm not thinking it's a good idea for a wedding cake filling. If you get a separate cake with that filling it might be a better idea that way if your guests don't like it you and your groom can eat it.

I've tried it and it's good! But, I definitely wouldn't like it as part of a cake! The fruit part would be great (I love blood orange), but the vodka part wouldn't be very good as an icing flavour! It's definitely not cake material, IMO!

You may want to decide to have a multi tiered cake with each tier having a different flavor. The main tier can be "common" for the majority of your guests and a smaller tier can be for your more exotic flavors.

I had three different flavored tiers at my wedding and everyone was able to find something they liked.

Another suggestion is if it is customary for your family to have a groom's cake, you could try that flavor on it.

Good luck!

This sounds awesome-I love blood oranges and mangos.
Why don´t you buy some of this vodka, make a cake, buy some buttercream, and taste it. It sounds fabulous, but might not taste as good as this sounds-but this makes me salivate!

I highly recommend that you avoid putting alcohol in the cake. You really never know whose date might be a recovering alcoholic, and this would be extremely problematic for them, in particular if they don't know there's alcohol in the cake.

I think I m doing raspberry and chocolate....I woudlnt chance liquor in the cake...not everyone likes it. (my dad makes an INCREDIBLE Swedish Rum Cheesecake, and although I have loved it ever since I was little....my friends did not like it when I made it...the rum flavor was too much for them.
