Mimosa is NOT a member of Family Poaceae, the grass family. It is a member of Family Mimosaceae or Family Fabaceae, depending on the extent to which you want to split the bean family. Anyway, Mimosa pudica is often referred to as "sensitive plant," because of the tendency of the leaves to fold together when they've been touched.

Other names given to this curious plant are TickleMe Plant tm, Humble plant, Shame plant, Sleeping grass, Prayer Plant, Touch-me-not, Makahiya (Philippines, meaning "shy"), Mori Vivi (West Indies), mate-loi (false death) (Tonga). The Chinese name for this plant translates to "shyness grass". The species epithet, pudica, is Latin for "bashful" or "shrinking", because of its curious nature and easy procreation. Its Sinhala name is Nidikumba, where 'nidi' means 'sleep'.

In Italy is mimosa sensitiva (sensitive mimosa), in your country I think sensitive plant or sleeping plant, and it is so pretty, with those yellow flowers and the mobile leaves.
