It's my birthday tomorrow. I got a friend of mine really drunk on his birthday two weeks ago (a bit childish I know) and now he is plotting revenge tomorrow night and I will be the spectacle! Does anyone know what I should eat before the night begins and any tricks (foods, teas whatever!) that will slow down the absorption of alcohol into my bloodstream? I am a small guy and cannot drink a lot! Please don't reply with 'why not don't drink at all?' because it is not an option unfortunately!

Eat a good meal a couple of hours before going out, then a huge glass of milk before you go.

Try and alternate booze with water - for every pint you have, drink a pint of water (sneak into the loo and do it if you have to!) - I try and put drinks down somewhere and just *lose* them!!

And before you go to bed, no matter how far gone you are, drink a couple of pints of water to offset the hangover

Have a great time :)

You can also induce yourself to vomit up the alcohol during bathroom breaks. Your eyes will look a bit bloodshot, so take some time to refresh yourself before you leave the bathroom.

You can also eat to slow down the absorption of alcohol, but my guess is that it's best not to mix the two strategies together since vomiting up food might counteract its benefits.

Another thing is to practice diversion so that they're not so focused on getting you drunk.

You can mix the hard liquors like vodka with water if you're buying them.

Anyhow, unless you're totally spineless, you do have an option. If your friend is mad, then apologize. If he's just doing it in good fun to you, keep your cool and don't allow him to ruin your night. If you exercise the ability to say no, at least you'll know he had that same option and chose to forego it.

People have died from things like this, so there's a risk.

No matter what you eat/ drink before you ingest the alcohol, as your drinking the effects will eventually take place. The key is to drink water as your drinking alcohol. This makes you urinate more frequently ridding your body of the alcohol in the process, as well as getting rid of your hang over the next day. You're still going to get a buzz, but the water will save you from getting drunk to the point that you dont enjoy it anymore. I would say drink 6-8 oz. of water for every alcoholic beverage consumed! Happy Birthday, have a good one!

Eat a well balanced meal. Drink 8 ounces of water for every drink you have. Keeps you hydrated lowers the hangover feeling the next day.
Take a tablespoon of olive oil before you go. Coats stomach.
Be careful....and Happy Birthday.

My husband always said that drinking milk and having a large knob of butter before going out on the ale did the trick for him. I am not a drinker myself, but am addicted to cups of tea!
I don't know what else to suggest but have a great birthday and enjoy yourself. You will most probably pay for it the next morning but that's probably part of the attraction!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (I presume you are 18 and legally allowed to consume alcohol!)

It doesn't matter! An ounce an hour is all your liver can get rid of-period.There is nothing on earth that will slow that down,or the absortion rate.YOU EAT TO PREVENT FROM GETTING SICK....Water just stops the flow and duh, you're not getting drunk anymore. It does help with the hangover which is basically your brain hitting your skull without the protective layer which is that headache...Tolerance plays the only part in the affects, not weight as they lie to you about,so if you have a low one-you're screwed anyway.Try the lowest percentage of alcohol-which is beer and wine coolers. Then comes wine, then the hard stuff.Don't guzzle a drink every ten minutes and take your time-period.

I know a friend of mine that swears by eating lots of dairy foods will help the absorption of the alcohol. Try cheese; cottage cheese, milk, ice-cream, etc. Good Luck ! and have Fun !!!

Just eat a big meal. Lots of bread amd meat.

It doesn't really matter what you eat. Just the more solid food in your stomach when you start drinking, the more the alcohol has to compete to get into your blood stream.

Eating something greasy will coat your stomach so it will not do as much damage. You may also want to try Chaser. It comes in a pill and you can find it in your drug store. I used it when I went away on vacation and felt fine. I use it when I know I might get a little crazy with my friends and it's never let me down.
