Hi,

I'm a highschooler trying to get a summer job at a local starbucks. I've called to follow up two times already in the pass few days, the first time the manager wasn't there and the second time he was busy so the person who answered wrote down a message.

I wanted to talk to him personally to ask politely if he had reviewed my application and that I was enthusiastic and very interested in the job.

I think it would make me stand out more, if I personally asked him if he looked at it.

But I feel like I'm annoying starbucks calling like every other day haha, is this a normal thing to do? I don't want to be too annoying where it makes me look bad. I just want to find out if I got an interview or if I got turned down so I can keep job hunting.

Thanks in advance!

P.S this will be my first job ever. :)

If you get answer for the first time like we'll get in touch with you.

You do not need to call up, But if you get an answer like.................call us so and so and that and that day for checking reminding you shouls.

One call is allowed Two is annoysome
Three is annoying and fourth definately you need some piece of mind.

Cheers!

NO. It is never a bad thing to call once or twice a week. It shows that you really want the job and are a "go-getter" and probably a hard worker. You should always write a "Thank You" note after every interview, I would recommend it be typed and in business style for most jobs, but for a job like this, a nice handwritten note, on nice, good quality paper is a good touch. Then make your calls or even stop in to see the manager. I wish you luck! It is so rude when the hiring person doesn't take the time to call the interviewee to tell them they haven't gotten the job. Oh, BTW, when you are offered the job, ask for the offer in writing, including your starting wage. Most companies do this, but it is a good practice on your part. That way, if they want to pull the job back, or start you at a different (lower) wage you have everything in writing...

You're right; it's really hard to know where the balance lies between interested in the job and annoying! Call in in person around 10 am on a non-weekend rush day and hope he or she has time to see you. Be patient, even though it may seem like they are not being totally organized about hiring new staff.

Good Luck!

It's never bad to followup but you have to walk the fine line between being persistent and pushy. I would not leave any more messages for the manager. Piling up paper gets annoying. If you call back, make sure you talk directly to him. If he is not available, call back later. It's also not a bad idea to stop by and see him. Maybe not today, but next week.

Continue to follow up.

It's usually better to take a few more swings than to get called out on strikes.

Persistance pays off. Keep calling, you will be remembered when they have to hire someone in a hurry.
