I'd be careful if I were you.....some company's have tracking programmes installed & can monitor what employees are doing on the firms computers....even down to what's been written - like in emails or on MSN.......BTW they CAN tell what sights you've been on.

Believe it or not, I would never go on Y/A unless it was my lunch hour, or my coffee break. My boss is paying me to do my job.

To me it is the same thing as if I would take home office supplies, it is considered stealing. I know most of you won't believe me but that is the truth.

I can just see all the thumbs down I will get. I certainly won't get best answer.

If you are at your office now, have a good day.

They can track what websites you have been on (From your computer only, not remotely), but they can't tell which sites you been on for what length of time. They monitor the amount of data you transfer, so if you are transferring a huge amount of data (you visit many sites and answer loads of questions) then they may say something to you. Closing the window when someone walks in does work but they aren't stupid, they know your on the web rather than doing work!

I have the same problem...

im working in an export-import co. and im the only employee here.Boss usually go outside, for the customs work, and he goes to labs to get analysis reports and he is a real activist for the environment so he sues lots of people and spends his time in courts.i just sit on my chair, check the mails and answer the phones and look for the needed papers.in my free times which is %95 of my workin time i surf on web and chat with my friend and when the boss comes i dont close the web pages cos he allows and he is ok with me to listen music loudly he even sometimes wants me to sing with him:)))he says everything is so stressfull lately so he is not thinking about making more stress over himself and me.

Hi.
Sorry to tell you but your company may well know you are on yahoo. It is also really easy to go to someones machine and trace their history. (I do it to my sons computer all the time - he is 12. - and he knows i do it.)
There have been cases of dismissal due to certain sites people have visited.
In my shop however my receptionist goes on line all the time and i have no problem with that as long as she has done what her job requires her to do. So its pretty much how your boss feels. Sorry for that.

i am at work yes, and i do sometimes close the site when someone passes. but funny enough not always. only when i know someone is coming up to talk. not sure if i would get into trouble. we are not allowed to e-mail people but no one said anything about going on web sites. :-)

Oh yes.

We had a progress meeting yesterday, and for me under my list of projects in progress they put "Yahoo Answers" at the top.

They're trying to wean me off it though.

I'm at home today.
