Only if you've never had chicken pox, or if you've any other reason to think that you aren't immune to chicken pox (like you ALWAYS get it!). The baby can't "catch" it unless you do. If you're immune the baby is too (as long as he's inside you!) - he currently has the same antibodies you do.

If you've never had chicken pox or think you aren't immune, then get to your doctor immediately because yes, chicken pox can be damaging to unborn babies. There is simple blood test to check your immunity and there is a vaccine - but you need to get it ASAP or it won't work. Your son has the spots now but he has been infectious for some days already before they appeared.

I think that at 16 weeks you are past the danger of malformations even if you were going to catch it. Most adults have had chicken pox at some point, and then they are immune. So here I think you are doubly ok.

ONly if you have never been vaccinated or had the disease yourself. This happened to me. I was about 6 months pregnant when my daughter got the chicken pox....everything was fine.

If you've had chicken pox, your unborn baby is automatically protected. But see your OB/GYN to double check.

I do not know but I would be calling the Doctor very fast to ask... not waiting for someone here to know.

As a precaution just let your doctor know. It should be fine.

Have you ever had them? If you have then you and the baby should be protected with your anti-bodies. if not see your doctor.
