Immigrants who come to live in the UK and then break the law and are subsequently sent to jail cost the taxpayer over £500 a week for their time of incarceration. They have the free choice to live here, they had the free choice to break the law. should we not have the free choice to jail them in a more economic location for us, perhaps where labour cost and prison accomodation is cheaper ?

My point is not that they should be sent home or to their families, but be punished by incarceration in a country that does not penalise the UK tax payer to the same extent. i.e Ghana, Sierra Leone, Angola, Sri Lanka etc

Again !!!This is not a question of deportation, send them home, shoot them etc. It is all about the right of the taxpayer to mittigate the expenses to the exchequer. Please somebosy post an answer that takes this into account, even if you don't agree.

well although it might make snese the real problem i see for us is the fact we treat prisoners very very well, i personally would like to see uninhabited islands use d and just have tents and bedding and 3 boring meals used instead o giving them ps2's, tv's ,dvd players and pool tables, the problem is not so much the persons fault its costing so much , but our leaders telling us that they need all this stuff for their human rights

I am an immigrant myself but I am very skilled, earn well and I don't have issues with the law.
I agree though that the country is very soft touch to allow just anybody here without asking newcomers how they are going to live in the UK. I think prevention is better than cure and if we allowed only skilled people here and made a probation period for those who come with an instant and unconditional deportation if a new immigrant chooses dodgy ways of life.
Unfortunately it is a mess at the moment. I heard one of those who tried to explode a bomb in July 2005 was given British nationality after serving time for drug dealing. Should I be proud of my British nationality then?

I agree, deport them and not let them return, the only problem is would their country pay to jail them when they have committed no crime in that country? You wouldn't want them to go free. There should be a treaty with all nations (if they don't join, refuse to have their people here) to jail any criminals from that country for crimes abroad. A problem arises for say, an American who rapes, tortures and kills a toddler in this country...the liberal lefties of Britain would refuse to deport him in case the Yanks (with good reason) execute the phucker.
Another problem would be illegal immigrants...how would you find out where they came from..they aren't the most truthful of people. Finally, how does it cost £500 a week to jail someone...do they get cordon bleu cooking and wine??You can get a holiday abroad for less money.
Bigsexydug has hit the nail on the head!!!

Hey Old Spice! Why the Outer Hebrides? What have the people who live there ever done.At least the majority of the Hebridean people can trace their descent there hundreds,if not thousands,of years. My own ancestors came from the Western Isles and they already have enough problems with incomers. If you want to deal with foreign criminals, send them back where they came from,no matter the regime. If they run the risk of torture or execution,TOUGH!They should've thought of that before they broke the law!

Send them to Bang Kwang in Thailand. Once they have gone from building one to building six, then if they survive 12 months of Khan deo they should be allowed a move to the Outer Hebrides.

Borders need to be more secure. These immigrants who commit criminal acts by illegally entering countries don't have much to worry about. If we actually enforced borders with decent walls/fences and armed guards ordered to shoot upon illegal entry, I think these illegal aliens aka criminals might think twice before border hopping and costing us citizens serious tax dollars that could go to educating our children or aiding the sick people who have a right to be in our country! Or if you're Bush, it could mean more money for Iraq...

I totally agree with you and bigsexydug!!!!
Once an immigrant breaks the law in our country, they should automatically lose their right to stay here...period, and they should be sent right back to where they came from!!!!
