She doesn't seem to even be stressed. Wants to eat and drink water like nothing is wrong. It looks like an opposum tail. Other than taking her to the vet in the AM what can I do here at home to help?

Take her to the vet now.

You may have antibiotics but how do you know infection hasn't REALLY set in yet?

You will have to keep the area clean even if she fights you, which she probably will do.

Wrap a towel around her body and don't forget about both front and back legs. You don't want to get clawed.

She may appear not to be hurting, but when you're ready to wash and clean her tail she may not like it along with the towel. Work fast, because you'll discover are strong they really are.

You know I'm curious about how this happened so I'm going to take a guess .... did it have somethiing to do with a fan?

Good luck with the cleaning. Who knows, she may not even make a fuss if you're lucky.

If you're going to take her to the vet first thing in the morning,I wouldn't do anything, except make sure she doesn't get back outside. It sounds as though her tail has been "de-gloved" (skinnned),probably from being run over by a car.It will probably have to be amputated, and cats do fine without their tails.I know,I've had three cats who've had to have their tails amputated after getting them broken in car fan belts, and another, who was a stray kitten, who looked to have had half of his tail chopped of with a shovel,or slammed in a door. They were fine after they healed.

I would just keep it clean with an antiseptic and maybe put antiobiotic cream on it until you get her to the vet. Tails are part of their spinal column so you want to be careful if there is an open injury. She must not be in pain if she's acting normal but I'd have it checked.
