Hi there, I have a Ps3 from Japan and various PS2 games from the UK. WIll my ps2 games work on this Japanese PS3? I know there is a list somewhere listing all of the compatible games but I cant find it anywhere! Can anyone help?????

No it wont....Japanese ps2 games are a different region.
Only Japanese ps2 games will play on ur ps3.
also remember to update ur ps3's firmware so u have better backward compatibility.

OK, it's hard to say without knowing for sure which one you have. If your PS3 has 4 usb ports, it can play PS2 games. If it has 2 usb ports, it means it's too new and cannot play them. These PS3's with 4 usb ports, can play PS2 games: 20GB 60GB 80GB - old one with 4 usb ports. PS3's which cannot play any PS2 games, with 2 usb ports: 80GB - new one with 2 usb ports 160GB 120GB Slim 250GB Slim The 40GB cannot play them either. If you have 4 usb ports, then just put a PS2 game in and play it. If you go to "save data utility" on your xmb, you will find an option to create a virtual PS2 memory card, do this and assign it to slot one, and you will be able to save your progress:) If you are still not sure which one you have, then just borrow a PS2 game from a friend or get a cheap, second hand one from the bargain bin, and put it in, if your PS3 cannot play them, it will tell you that the disc is not supported, but it won't harm the PS3 or the game:)

No. PS3 is region free only for PS3 games. PS2 games from UK (PAL system) won't work on NTSC J (Japanese system). There are 3 major zones for movies, PS and PS2 games:
PAL (Europe, Australia, Africa, India, etc)
NTSC J (Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.)
NTSC US (USA, Canada, etc.)

uhhuh!! will not work. Europe is PAL and Japan is NTSC-J WILL NOT WORK!! do not even try to play, it WILL ruin either the game, or the PS2s laser!!!

If they are both PAL region's i suppose so. Im in the united states and play NTSC games from canada no problem. So i dont see how that would be different.
