I have started riding a bike for the summer every day for 2 hours straight in the morning. That is 4 big laps across and around my towns hill.

And another question. What will be the benefits of this after, let's say , 3 months ? Thanks.

Yeah this is pretty good

I would suggest that you have a rest day once a week and maybe a longer session the day before. You should be trying to stay near your aerobic threshold (about 70% of maximum heart rate). Difficult to hold a conversation but not gasping for air. Oh and maintain the time as you get fitter the distance will improve.

After 3 months you should have built up a reasonable aerobic base. You should then start introducing interval training to work on your anaerobic fitness. You should be a fairly handy club cyclist by this stage. Join one (if you haven't already) and start learning how to ride in a group, racing tactics, nutrition, coaching tips etc

But yeah your off to a good start.

P.S. Based on the question, (two hours training every day.) I'm assuming improvement is the goal here. This sort of training will improve fitness and speed. (very effectively)

Other than get on it and pedal (sorry could not resist), I would agree with the things Glenn said. When I started riding, the main thing was to put in the miles. Build a good sold base of conditioning. A lot depends on why you are riding and what you want to accomplish. Do you want to race, use for transportation or commuting, do organized charity rides? I think the key is to enjoy what you are doing.

As your base develops, I think variety is also a key. Vary your workouts to avoid monotany. Also, try and find other cyclists. Local cycling clubs are a great way of meeting people. Don't be intimidated by the group. There will always be every experienced, conditions, and fast cyclists. Most cyclists I know are willing to help others out. You can lean a lot from them. Also by riding with others you will develop other skills, such as group riding. One last suggestion is to pick up magazines like Cycling Magazine. They have a lot of good tips, etc.

Good Luck.

Firstly, I suggest you don't ride everyday if you're just starting and secondly, don't do hills everyday either. Maybe a couple of days try a flatter course. The reasons being, your body needs time to get used to this exercise and while you might think you are coping with it now, it takes time, like everything else to get used to it, believe me, "burn out", is no fun. In other words, let you body have rest day/s, maybe walk on non cycling days? Doing the same course all the time can sometimes be boring......mix it up.
After 3 months of riding for 2 hrs each time, you will be fitter and have increased endurance, lost weight as long as you don't over eat, which can happen as your body will demand more fuel, eat healthy foods and drinks, remember to rehydrate, drink water while you ride. And the best of all.......a great feeling of achievement and satisfaction which cycling brings. Welcome to cycling and keep it up.

before you ride don't eat heavy. after your ride you will notice after awhile your body is going nuts trying to find things to eat. find stuff with calories and protein and drink milk/water or a protein shake..whatever is good. after 3 months of doing this not only your legs will be ripped and buff but you're upper body strength as well.

Well, um, your leg muscles get more firm and stronger. You may be able to run faster too. And more calories are burned on a bike rather than just walking.
