Why would any republican senators vote for this bill? After weeks of debate, nothing promising changed in the bill from a conservative stand-point (amnesty). Does anyone know where I can get addresses for the following republican senators who voted for cloture? They are as follows:

Bennett (R-UT), Yea
Craig (R-ID), Yea
Graham (R-SC), Yea
Gregg (R-NH), Yea
Hagel (R-NE), Yea
Kyl (R-AZ), Yea
Lott (R-MS), Yea
Lugar (R-IN), Yea
Martinez (R-FL), Yea
McCain (R-AZ), Yea
Snowe (R-ME), Yea
Specter (R-PA), Yea

I really don't care how the dems voted because it won't change how I feel about their party. Unfortinately, for me, I live in California so writing my senators (Boxer and Feinstein-ultralibs) is not going to do much. I'm pretty sure almost every amendment proposed by the GOP was voted down. If this is not the case, let me know. Thank you.

They’re former Democrats turned Neo-Con Republicans. They’re also wealthy fat cats like Ted Kennedy. They need slaves (cheaply paid Mexicans) to do all the work for them that Americans supposedly doesn’t want. They don’t care if they get voted out of office because of this. If someone like McCain or Lott gets voted out of office, there is a multi-million dollar CEO position in the Auto Industry, a successful law firm, college professorship at a prestigious college, and/or a well paid speaking tours waiting for them when they’re out of public office. It's the American public who really participated in this bill that deserves an applause for keeping Capitol Hill's phones busy with their calls to their congressmen and senators. Those Democrats who voted AGAINST that bill should also recieve a stand up applause for what they did.

Below is a listing of the Democratic senators who voted against the bill. You SHOULD care how they voted - there are more of them. Politics isn't Football - team loyalty doesn't matter. As a citizen and Independent who was against this bill, I intend to thank not only Republicans but the Democrats -not because of their party affiliation, but because they did the right thing. Like you I come from a state dominated by liberals (Durbin and Obama) which has NEVER stopped me from writing my opinions to not only them - but also to my crazily eccentric, out of touch and mind, liberal congresswoman, Jan Schakowsky. As citizens we need to support political figures who make reasoned choices we agree with- not because they spout party line BS to get elected and then abandon their constituencies once elected (Bush, Cheney, Clinton, etc.) The Immigration Bill was a prime example of the type of legislation that has been generated by the Beltway through the nonsense of partisan politics. This rabid "my team or no team" partisanship has hurt our country deeply and possibly irreparably for the past 20 or more years. And the nonsense won't come to an end until American citizens start electing LEADERS instead of idealogues who spout the divisive and self-aggrandising BS of an Al Franken, Anne Coulter, or Rush Limpdick.
