1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (English Standard Version)
------------------------------------------------
18For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written,

"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart."

20Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

You are misintrepreting. These passages are in effect "Reverse Psychology" bringing up all the negative possibilities an unbeliever could use to debate the possibility that what they think is right. The logic of Paul is brilliant in these passages because he counters anti-christ arguments even before they are brought to the fore-front. He in effect challenges anyone to prove him wrong. As for "Folly" he is being totally sarcastic.

No because it isnt a word that is used in the Bible. Foolishness is the word that is used in that verse. That is what Christianity appears to be to the unbeliever. I would say Love or Forgiveness are better words to describe Christianity

The Bible says that folly descibes those who are perishing because they have rejected Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Only a fool would reject God's offer of eternal life and embrace Hell.

That passage is about how the bible seems illogical to those who don't believe it...I'm not sure what you're getting at though...

It's the perfect word to describe what life is all about.

"Folly" isn't strong enough. "Detrimental to the advancement of the human race", I believe, is much more accurate.
