I was teased all the time growing up. I was always the shortest and always the ugliest. People made fun of me for everything. I heard non stop blonde jokes, comments about my glasses and height, etc. I endured this pretty much my whole life. I still get picked on by co-workers at work but not as bad as when I was in school. The worst thing that ever happened to me was when I was in middle school and me and my friend would ride our bikes home and we had kids that literally chucked rocks at us. Kids can be so cruel.

Sometimes I was teased about my weight, even though I wasn't all that heavy as a child. I was also teased by a couple of boys because I had asthma, they also teased a girl in my class because she had epilepsy. I never had an asthma attack at school and the other girl never had seizures or anything, but these two boys would fall on the floor teasing us when they would see us. One would pretend to gasp for air while the other one would lie there and jerk his body around as if he were having a seizure. That was so messed up. The only reason they even knew about our medical conditions was because the teacher announced it to the whole class one day, she actually asked us to bring in a clean sock stuffed with other socks so she could stick them in our mouths if we had "attacks." Isn't that the most ignorant thing you've ever heard of? I hadn't thought about that in years!

My face looks Asian (no idea where that came from) and I have fiery red hair. I didn't exactly get teased, but I did get some very interesting comments about it.

Also my imagination. In Grade 3 my teacher asked me to write a report on the Pilgrims, and I ending up turning in a six page story about a Pilgrim girl who gets lost in the woods and meets a unicorn and a talking chimpunk who teach her to fly. It had some key facts, so I still got a good grade, but I was teased for a month after for the plot.

My last name, which was Wall. I was known as brick.

At the age of 10 I was 5 ft odd, so head and shoulder above the boys and most of the girls, plus I used to pick on the school bullies. Had a massive fight with this big boy, who was picking on a little boy once! Could not have done much for the little boy's street cred, having a girl look after him!!!

So people did not tend to tease me that much!!!

I grew up very poor but my mom wanted me to go to the best schools so she got the apartment garage that goes to one of those really big houses in a neighborhood filled with mansion like houses. Every girl in my class had long straight blonde hair and wore frilly dresses everyday, and all the boys wore khakis and sweater vests and loafers. I had dishwater blonde hair the was frizzy and very short and I hated dresses and even if I didnt we couldnt afford them so I got picked on because I didnt have as much money as them. I dont remember them really calling me any names I just know that noone talked to me the whole time I was there and the would whisper everytime I walked by. But lucky for me we moved like every 3 months so I never had to endure the embarassment for very long. But in highschool I got very popular and hated it so I guess I would have preferred to be the poor girl that noone talked to.

I was teased a lot in school. They made fun of my name and I was also teased because I came from a big city and had moved to a small town.

It was 60 years ago and I survived, obviously. Best advice I can give is for parents to provide support and encouragement to their kids when they are picked on and teased. Mine didn't. They were afraid to confront other people and told me to fight my own battles.

I would have been very happy if they had just encouraged me--they didn't have to fight my battles for me. Fortunately I was able to deal with this challenge and grow beyond it, but I had to do it on my own.

Bucktooth beaver - awful! I sucked my thumb which resulted in my teeth being pushed out therefore the name calling and knowing how that felt for me I taught my children never to look as someone as being weird but different for some reason or another. There is no perfect person and just because you may be more attractive than some, you can always be as ugly as others who tease someone just because they are different.

Being smart, kids used to call me "The Brain" also I had a lot of children tease me for "talking/acting white" since my father was a politician and I went to a private school and correct english was very important in our house. He would correct us so much that even as an adult I notice that me and my siblings still do it today (my hubby says I drive him crazy) . It took years for me to realize I shouldn't play dumb for anyone. But kids will be kids they will always find something to tease you about.

2 things

i had a higher pitched voice, not enough to sound like a girl but not a deep voice either. that went on until my senior year in high school then i guess my balls dropped or something. and i guess it wasnt teased as much as it was just people laughing that didnt like me too much.

and i was born with no sense of smell, i dont think ill ever live this down with my truly close friends bc im always getting emails and myspace comments when theyre bored being like "HEY SMELLSTER"

good times.
