No I have never taken a picture of someone that is in the casket. That is gruesome when people do that. I dont understand the whole point behind it myself. That is sick.

I have pictures of my dad in his casket. I keep them with the other funeral memories; a copy of the card we sent out, the clipped-out announcement from the paper, and the condolence cards we received. I don't get really emotional when I see it, and no more from the pics than from the other stuff. These things are all reminders of him & his death, but it's been a long time ('91) so it's not that bad. I don't look at these items often, if I come upon them occasionally I'm a bit sad of course but that's it.

I never thought there was anything particularly creepy about those pics, it's just how he was laying there. People often say 'I want to remember him how he was alive', well, I do that too... one doesn't exclude the other, it's not like those pictures are burned in my eyes and the only thing I see. Death is part of the life cycle, hiding it isn't going to take it away.

I've never done it myself, but apparently my ancestors thought that was the thing to do. I've inherited pictures from both sides of my family over the years and there are several photos of deceased persons in their caskets. One of the photos was actually done by a professional photographer. Kinda creeps me out.........Even though I knew some of the deceased, I actually get more emotional viewing pictures of them when they were living.

Why would you want that anyway? It would seem to be in bad taste doing so, unless they were you child or someone very close like your husband/wife maybe. I would never in my right mind do that not even to them though. It just seems so wrong to be taking pictures of dead bodies. Can you imagine being the only one taking pictures of the dead while others are crying right before you?

No never, that would give me the creeps..
They used to in the very olden days and I don't have a clue where they kept those.. hopefully I never run into one..lol
I would rather remember them as they were when they were living..

I know this is crazy but I did my grand father. I do not know why! I think it is more a mental thing of me knowing I would never get to see him again. I actually have the file hidden so I do not have to see it. I do not know why I have it really.
