Well I'm agonostic so i'm still trying to figure out what I want to believe. But I have used God's name in vain in anger and other situation. And since this is an unforgivable sin. And a local pastor told me I'm going to hell since you can't repent for it.

Mark 3:29 "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin."

I'm screwed I guess. Who knew one pharse has given me a one way ticket to hell.

Since when has anyone finally figured out how to pronounce YHVH? If they have, scholars and historians would love to know how they figured it out.

The commandment to not take the lord's name in vain referred to speaking the sacred name of YHVH outside of religious services. Vain here referring to vanity, superficiality, and everyday life.

The name was/is considered very sacred and that to utter it was to intone the very powers of God, thus if it was said in a non-religious and impious manner it could cause ill things to happen. And also, if it was spoken of all the time it would lessen its sanctity.

And I don't here many people going about cursing "Messiah Yoheshu'ah" which is the correct name of Jesus Christ, the Anglicized version of the Greek mistranslation of "Messiah Yoheshu'ah" as Iesous Kristos.

So, you aren't going to hell.

:o)

It may not be a one way ticket to hell, especially if it was done in ignorance. God will judge this, and the intention of your heart has much to do with the outcome. It sounds like you only used God's name in vain, which is forgivable. It also sounds as if you have repentance in your heart concerning this. Pray and ask God to forgive you, with this attitude in mind. He is faithful and just and will forgive you. He loves us and He does not want anyone to perish. That is why Jesus came into the world... to save us from our sins and restore us into a relationship with the living God.

The reference you gave in Mark was about people saying that Jesus had an "unclean spirit" in him. That was disrespecting the Holy Spirit within Him. Any blasphemy against the Spirit of God will never be forgiven. Does that mean hellfire to the one who has repented of it?? Only God can decide.

NO NO NO NO NO that Pastor was totally wrong- blaspheming the Holy Spirit is that you completely deny that Jesus came to earth-if your heart is hard, and you continuing to deny the conviction of the Spirit= that is blaspheming Him. You can repent of using the Lord's name in vain- If you are worry about committing the unpardonable sin, you have not committed it- Turn to Jesus, ask for forgiveness, give your life to Him as payment for your sins and you will be saved. Yes you can repent of using God's name in vain, do not listen to this pastor-

Mark 3:29 "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin

I don't think so, God is love and if your still breathing there's a chance that you would know Him better.

I really believe people don't know the mind and heart of God.
The Bible says that (He) God is not willing that any should parish but that all would inherit eternal life.

it's clearly seen that the world was created by design of a great designer. but the design doesn't show His personality.

That why God revealed His personality through Revelation and inspiration of The Holy Scriptures.

In the beginning Gen 1:31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.

Gods intentions for man are always good.

He created man with the capacity to choose Him or reject Him. love gives choice.
(Gold)=Gods intentions as good as gold.

Man chose to reject God. so all creation falls under the righteous judgment of God.

(Black)=Man chose to reject God and things looked hopeless.Romans 3 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"

But heres the great news
Read Isaiah.1:18 God wants to reason with man and desires man to be reunited with Him in a state that goes far beyond what we can ever hope or imagine.
He wants to forgive us of our sins and make us white as snow.
(white) Gods the cleaner of mans sin.

all we have to do is just believe
(RED)John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever would believe in Him should not parish but have eternal life.

when we believe we have new life.
(Green) =newness life eternal

But God promised us a greater place then His original design.
(Gold x's 2)
if God can for give me He can forgive any one.
Just ask
Romans 10:9 say if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved.

try it, just say it

you don't have to understand all things but God still loving and He still gives you a choice.

so your not beyond being unpardonable of unforgivable

you still have a choice don't you!.

i do no longer think of that anybody could talk for God. no you are able to truly say who's perfect till you die...and we could desire to no longer even understand then, according to probability we proceed on a various point of religious growth yet nevertheless don't have each and each of the solutions. despite the fact is, no individual who has died is telling and those individuals who're alive only have comments. So back, no it is basic to talk for the Divine. Blasphemy may be the call of a few new band. ;) *edit* i'm uncertain I responded your query. i do no longer think of it rather is seen blasphemy yet i think of it rather is fairly incorrect to do.

I think you need a new pastor.
Blaspheming is to credit the works of God to the Devil, or making yourself God.
Our conscience, or the still small voice that prompts us to do good or pricks us when we have done wrong. This voice is the spirit of God talking to us, but we can harden our hearts to such an extent that we no longer here this voice, our conscience becomes seared, the Holy spirit will not abide where He is not wanted indefinitely. Once we have reached this point it is called the unpardonable sin. It's not Gods doing its our own rejection of Him.

If you are not filled with the holy spirit you can not blaspheme the holy spirit, your still alright. Using the lords name in vain isnt the same as blaspheming the holy spirit.

You're agnostic? Then don't be concerned what a Christian pastor told you. I shouldn't really matter to you. Although there are many true Christians, there are even more people who call themselves Christians, yet break their own rules - like using the Lord's name in vain.

That's because that jerk made up his own presumptuous answer to what blasphemy is. Blasphemy is not cursing or using god with curse words. It's not murder, rape, theft, gluttony, or even hating Christ or any other universal educators and the religions built upon their teachings. Blasphemy is worse. It's an incurable and insidious spiritual disease. Blasphemy is hating truth, light. It is calculated and it is meant to sow destruction. It would be akin to recognizing the truth of something, hating the reality that you recognized, then deliberately perverting it in order to destroy it. From your description, you haven't come close to blasphemy.

I'm sure there are other people that would say that you are forgiven for absolutely everything.,.... really if a murderer or child molester can be forgiven why cant you... when i was a kid i always took gods name in vain... i was young and didn't even know the meaning behind it until an older christian lady told me.... you cant really believe that a little kid can never be forgiven, for something they mimic.
