All my life I have been taught that there is no such thing as a STUPID question... Now you have gone and countered all those years of teaching.
Your either/or has left me no other choice than to admit that I don't know ALL the answers and neither do you.
I would be derelict in my duty if I didn't also tell you that God loves you and sent his Son to atone for your sins that you might have life everlasting if you will just REPENT and turn from your wicked ways.

Well it might have been a niece instead of a sister, but she was a close relative. The bible does not tell us all the children that every person had. Can you imagine? It would be like that old aids transmission tree. You sleep with 4 people and they sleep with 4 people and so on and all of the sudden you have had sex with 10,000 strangers. Little freaky.
So, God picks and chooses the stories He tells. Picks the ones that have meaning that is lasting. Lessons, encouragement, warning.
So, Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden and told be fruitful and multiply. We have no idea how old they were when this happened, and I mean really they were formed as adults not infants so who knows? We know that Adam and Eve had 2 sons Cain and Able, it does not say these were their first children, but it is assumed so. The only real information about Cain is that she had that child with the Lord's help, so maybe it was a really hard labor, and felt like she could not have gotten through it without God. Maybe it was her 100th baby and just breach or maybe he was big. It is not the idea that Cain was firstborn and Abel second born that is the point of the story.
So we know that Cain killed Abel and left. We do not know if he was married before he left or if he found a wife in Nod. It tells us he went to Nod, but then there is a division where it talks about Cains story. Much like in the days of creation where God tells of His creation, then goes back to the story of Adam. Just because it comes after day 7 in the chronology of the story does not mean it happened later. So, maybe Cain was married maybe he found a wife there. But, if it was just Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel, why was Cain concerned people would kill him. Does it not make more sense that he was concerned that one of his other brothers would avenge Abel and not fear of random strangers in a new land. Those people Cain would encounter KNEW Abel, that was why Cain feared retribution.
Ok, so lets keep going. They first time we have an age for Adam and Eve is Genesis 5:3-5
Adam was 130 years old when he fathered [a child]* in his likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.
4 Adam lived 800 years after the birth of Seth, and he fathered sons and daughters.
5 So Adam’s life lasted 930 years; then he died.
So we get from the story that Seth was born after the death of Abel and that Adam was 130 when Seth was born. Have you not ever seen those huge families who have 16 kids? Imagine if those women could have children when they were 130! Then imagine if they could have them at 900. No birth control. That is a lot of people. And every say 20 years another generation begins to produce. Remember the aids tree? Imagine how many people you would have slept with after 130 years. That is how many decendants Adam and Eve could have had. And Cain could have married a much younger woman. I mean say he was 100, possible if Adam and Eve had him young (remember they were created not born) he could have been jealous of his brother as a teen. I mean does his behavior sound mature? So, conservatively say he was 70. His wife could have been 12. That is easily 3 generations later. Less perverted.
All of it is conjecture. Maybe it was his sister. I will know someday. But you know the point of your question was admit we are normal humans or admit we are perverted. Of course the bible is made up of normal people. Of course they sinned. Of course we sin. Christians are people trying to become more Christ like everyday. If we lived 10,000 years trying, and always doing our best. Read our bible, attended church, tithe, pray, study, evangelize, and do all the things we are taught as best as we can, we would STILL not be perfect. We would still be normal people and make mistakes, and the first one of us who believes we are superior is sinning right there. The bible teaches that whoever follows the whole law, but falls short on one issue is guilty of all. That looking at another person with lust or longing is a sin. That hate in our hearts is the same as murder. Man that is TOUGH. So we try. We fail. We try again. Similar to a non believer. Normal. We just have a great rule book. A great inspirational novel that tells of those who went before us and triumphed. An amazing self help guide telling us the way to be happier and more productive. And we have the greatest Father and Brother the world has ever known. They are always there to listen, to pick us up, to take our punishment. And that is the only thing that makes any of us the least bit extraordinary.
Thanks for the question.

It could be that is the way it happened. But some people believe that there were people on the earth before Adam and Eve got here. Maybe the found them and married them. I think the history of our earth is alot more complicated than what it says in the bible. The bible is a simple version because our minds can't comprehend all that God does.
But, I wouldn't worry about it. The genes back then were much more pure and they could have gotten away with having sex with their sisters and not produce any deformed children.
Just because we don't know all the mysteries in the bible, doesn't mean that we are perverted. There are different traditions in different cultures.

in the beginning, during the time of adam and eve, god did not prohibit sex between closed relatives
maybe there we so few people at that time, particularly when he created the first two-adam and eve, and when the two had children, no other option but for brothers and sister to have sex or get married and as i said god did not prohibit these
but in our time, it is written in the new testament that nakedness of a person should be exposed to a close blood relation, therefore brothers and sisters and first cousins are not allowed to do so as in the time adam and eve

I'm Catholic and I believe in evolution. There were more than just Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel. So, no they weren't incestuous. Now, this is just a thought.....maybe Adam and Eve were the first humans to have souls. We believe humans have souls, and dogs, bears, dolphins, monkeys etc, don't. Animals don't have souls, and we evolved from animals. So maybe Adam was just the first human that God gave a soul, not the first human, period.

They had lots of wives & concubines too. The wives were often related as in the case of Rachel & Leah married to Jacob. Jacob also had 2 other wives thought to be the younger sisters of Rachel and Leah

LOL! I've seen Christians say that it was okay to mate with family members back then when there weren't many people, but once there were enough people, god disallowed it.
ROFL! I can't make this stuff up... I'm just not that creative!

It's a creation myth. Wicca has one too where the God mates with the Goddess then he dies at samhain only to be born of her again in Yule. (you dont want to mate with your mum now do you lol)
It's a story to explain who we came about in the christian religion. I dont think it's ment to be seen as anything else.
