Usually you don't need to serve a side dish with lasagna.
I suggest you make an appetizer before the lasagna, like a tomato salad! Tomato, basil, garlic and vinaigrette!

You should do a citrus and heirloom tomato salad with red onions and balsamic vinagrette...
take ruby grapefruit sections, red onions, and juicy tomatoes drizzle with oil and balsamic, add some fresh basil, salt and pepper to taste...and if you find the receipe to acidic cut the acid with some smooth french goat cheese or "chevre"
