ugh im so disgusted with smokers smoking around you, its like they're trying to get me killed! Even if they are standing at a distance, the wind always seems to blow the smell in my face. I can never seem to escape this because my stepdad smokes as well, and just now he like filled the entire garage with smoke and my mom was just pissed because she couldnt do her laundry.
don't you hate smokers? Have friends who smoke and want to help them quit? Tired of second handsmoking?

Well sometimes you really just cant remove yourself from where you are, let say you were waiting at the bus stop and there were a couple of smokers, i have to stay near the bus stop so i can catch my ride. But i think its the smokers responsibility to be couteous to others, they should be more aware and concerned. We as non smokers are already trying to avoid smokers, but theres just some situations where we cant get out of.

In a way you must deal with it. If it is your stepdad smoking and it upsets your mom, then she needs to speak to him. Get her to explain that they have to come to a happy medium, so that all parties will be happy. Out in public is different. If there are no laws against it in you state then they have the right.
I recently quit smoking and while the smell bothers me, I would never tell anyone that they couldn't do something they enjoyed. Would you like to be told that you had to give up to listening to music or something you enjoyed just because it offended someone else. You have to pick and choose things to get upset over. Let small things slid so you will have the energy to fight the big battles. I know people smoking around you could be affecting your health. Look at it this way, Let it be your reason not to smoke. I enjoyed the smell and it led me to 10 years of smoking a pack or more a day.
Anyways, Live everyday to the fullest and pick your battles.

I'm a non-smoker but most of my friends are smokers. They know that I don't like the smoke in my face and they respect that. Also, no one is allowed to smoke in the house or in the garage. If someone is smoking near me and I can't stand it, I just leave. If I went to a bar that allowed smoking, then it's my fault then because I knew ahead of time that people would be smoking in there.
Yes, it's an inconvenience to us non-smokers but it's also an inconvenience to the smokers. And yes, I believe that a lot of smokers are inconsiderate of others. That kind of behavior isn't tolerated in my home but if I'm out in public, there isn't much I can do about it.
If it really is that bothersome to you, start a petition to get smoking banned where you are or even in the country. There are a lot of people on your side but remember that there are others on the other side of the fence that you are fighting against. Good luck to you and your quest.

Your question concerns only smokers and smoking, right? So we, the answerers should only answer what's asked and not beat around the bush and give soooooo many illustrations and explanations that are irrelevant.
Yes, I really, really HATE it when people smoke around people. They seem to forget (or they don't really care) that if smokers have their rights to smoke, non-smokers who are around them have also the right to inhale smoke-free air and not be subjected to the dangers of inhaling second-hand smoke.
Consideration of others, empathy, and sensitivity to the needs and feelings of other people are just some of the most basic things that people (who don't have these character traits) should start developing in themselves so that everybody can live better lives and be happy.

I did smoke, but haven't in 35 years. Live with it. Smokers are addicted to it, and have few places in the US left in which they can smoke. It's a big outdoors.
Wait until you travel! In the rest of the world, smokers still rule.

I hate the smell of cigarette smoking, however, I don't hate the smokers. My wife used to smoke but quit before we got married.(I quit drinking) You make a little sacrifice to live comfortably.
The thing that bothers me most, is the lack of respect for the environment when butts are just thrown on the ground. To me this is littering.(it may be biodegradable, but so is toilet paper. I'm not going throw my toilet paper on the ground after I wipe my... well you get the picture)
If you want to smoke, please respect those around you and I will respect your space.

As a non-smoker I understand the addiction involved & I don't judge the smokers. If I have a problem with smoke, I remove MYSELF from the area. As for trying to get you killed, you're in FAR more danger from people driving & texting/talking on the phone.

You've got to lighten up. I'm a non-smoker, and smokers have bent over backwards to be considerate of non-smokers. They don't smoke in our houses, they can't smoke in office buildings, restaurants, bars, or any other enclosed space. There's ridiculous laws coming about against smoking in a car with your own child! People need to be trusted to make their own choices, and not be hassled about them everywhere they go. Nobody is trying to kill you. You don't like it - MOVE!

You non smokers gripe about everything! I quit smoking and traded my cigarette for a bubble stick-now I am getting griped at because I leave little soap bubble rings. Where am I gonna find a place without having to listen to some jerk on a soapbox?

I don't smoke, I have a little in the past and I don't know how I could handle the smoke cause it makes me sick now to smell it. My husband smokes but he goes outside and doesn't at any time smoke in the car, we pull over and he has one....I basically say hey smokes blowing in my face if were outside but he is pretty much aware of it and makes a lot of effort to keep it away from me and the kids..he know's we don't want it and it's bad. Some people are not so thoughtful they just blow it anywhere and that is just rude, would they like if I just spit my gum out at them? Probably not. It stinks, it's unhealthy and really how fun is it to drag smoke into your lungs????

I really do not like it when people smoke around me because I am an asthmatic. I usually try to move if possible. If I'm talking to the person who is smoking, I politely ask them to put it out, explaining that my asthma is triggered by smoke. I've yet to see anyone refuse. No, I do not hate people who smoke, I just hate their habit.
