Graham Kerr back in the 70's. Not so well known now but his show "the Galloping Gourmet" was great. His food was very often gourmet caliber and he was fun to watch. he switched to low cal low fat because of his wife's health but he never lost the humor and you could cook it at home.
Paul Prudhomme who popularized Cajun food would also rank because if you were to eat at his restrant very often it would be easy to weigh as much as he does, it's that good.
And if you ever watched Iron Ch eff, the original Japanese show how could you choose between Machiba, Sakai or Chen? Machiba's elegant Japanese, Sakai with the French food that looked like art and Chen's creativity.

Rachel Ray...I like the quick meals she makes. I am able to learn from what she does and make quick healthy meals which is a good thing since I am a full time student and I also work.

Boyardee because his food is good.
Chef Boyardee was an actual chef. He started canning his meals to go because there was such a high demand for it

My favorite chef is Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall (of River Cottage fame ) because of his originality and use of seasonal recipes, using whats best when it is fresh.
Another is Heston Blumenthal for his originality and his quest for perfection..........
Lastly Gordon Ramsey............... for his passion
