My story. Being raised in the traditional Lutheran Protestant faith, and by very religious grand parents. I have somewhat trifted off in Lalaland. I still believe but my faith is somewhat disturbed. How can I inquire my faith back , cause I think my partner has a hard time with me about it. Cause my partner has faith and belief. I do have belief. But about faith I am not sure? So how do you inquire it when you attend a Unitarian Universalist Church?

This can be an interesting subject. However, thanks for all who are honestly replying. I have read the Bible throughout my life. I know all the stories in that good Book. I have come up with my own belief system that suits me. I attend now the Unitarian Universalist Religon faith. However, sometimes there is something a miss. I do not know if you have ever felt that way? When you're stuck in a certain religion up bringing, you have those good old memories and warm feelings that come along with it. I still harbor great memories of my childhood being raised in the Missionhome that my grand parents lived in back in Germany. Somewhat is a miss . And I need to gain it back. Somewhat I feel that my life is kind of empty. I do believe in God and a higher being. I know I have a purpose in life. But what is it with Faith?
Can also some one explain to me what Prophets or prophecy means? I have a hard time understanding that concept. I am aware of Moses and Abraham . But today's world human prop

I won't comment on the Unitarians. I'm not one myself, and I honestly have some issues with some of their doctrine, but in general terms, I think faith is acquired when you stop and take the time to look for it. Look within. Look without. Spend some quiet time alone to talk with God or just to meditate on why you feel you are having a faith crisis.
In my own life, (and others can and probably will disagree with this) my faith has been bolstered by the fact that when I stop to look back at my life, when I weigh everything that I've done and everything that has happened to me good and bad, I can see how everything worked together to make me the person that I am today, sitting where I am, and doing what I'm doing. I like who I am now and I see how the bad stuff in particular led me to this place.
There was a time in my life when I was on foodstamps, working in a crappy restaurant for no money, while trying to support a wife and child. You have never known true humiliation until you've had to stand in a line at human services and beg for food. The worst part was that I did everything right. I didn't do drugs. I hadn't gotten anyone pregnant out of wedlock. I grauated college with a 3.4 GPA. I had three years of international experience under my belt. I was functionally bilingual in English and Japanese, but even after over 75 rejection letters, still could not find a decent job six months after 9/11.
Those 2 years were the absolute worst experience of my whole life. It was easily an experience that could have led me to blame God or question his existance. After all if God was so good why was all of this happening to me? I didn't do anything to deserve this did I?
I didn't lose my faith however. As bad as it got (I poignantly remember standing in line at the store one time making grand decisions about whether we should buy toilet paper or shampoo this week), I trusted that God had a plan for me. I trusted that I was where I needed to be at the time, doing what I needed to do and that the reason for it all would make sense to me eventually.
Today I'm working in Japan in a fullfilling job that I love. I can take care of my family and they are happy as well. Now looking back I do see the purpose in what I was going through back then. I met people who I otherwise would never have met. I got close to individuals who I never would have been friends with if I had had more money and I think made a very positive impact on their lives in a variety of ways. I made contributions in areas I never would have tried before. I learned how to subsist on less and how to budget. I learned that though things are good now, even if I lose it all I know from experience that it won't be the end of the world and that I can handle it. These realizations have strengthened my faith, because as I look back I can really clearly see the purpose of my struggles and the plan that God had laid out for me making me a better, stronger, more compassionate person in the process.
So where can you find faith? Take a good hard look at your life. Know where you've come from, where you are, and how you got there. Try to see God's plan for you in all of it, then let that strengthen you in that you can trust God to put you where you need to be doing what you need to be doing. There's a great deal of peace to be had in that.

If you still believe, you don't need to acquire faith, you already have it! I think that you are more likely asking "how do I grow my faith"?
Unitarians mean well, but they tend to be more humanists than Spiritualists. The Lutheran faith that you were brought up in is one of the most Spiritual of the Christian denominations with the Liturgy, Sacraments, and the Commemorations. Spirituality is the aspect of faith where we realize that we are not alone, but part of (as the Creeds state) "The Holly catholic (Christian, universal) Church; the Communion of Saints". Is it possible that it's not your faith that you are searching for, but the spiritual aspect of your belief?
I would suggest that you get a copy of Gene Edward Veith Jr's. The Spirituality of the Cross.
This book is written from a Lutheran perspective, but will encourage all who read it.
Also pray that Holy Spirit would continue to send you the gifts of faith enlightenment and joy!
I will pray for you.

Faith is believing what the Word of God says. If you are a believer than you must believe that God will not allow anything to happen that you can't handle. When tribulation in your life comes that is when your faith really comes into play.. I lost both my parents at a young age. Now when I look back over my life, I can see where God has sent someone into my life that helped pull me through it. The Word says " When one door shuts another one opens" This is so true.

Maybet he protestant faith is not for you. try looking into different religions, like the super old eastern religions(they were around way before jesus christ and the christian god). Some of those don't demand a strong faith in a power you cannot see, but rather the will to improve yourself so as to reach a point where you are completely without selfish desires(think buddhism). Those religions really speak out to me way more that one that requires blind faith.

Inquire, maximum easily! include? no longer on my existence! See, I even have inquired into the Catholic Church -- its doctrines, its background, its way of existence. And what i stumbled on HORRIFIED me. Catholic Church background is abomination upon abomination, atrocity in atrocity. I even have heavily examined the Catholic human beings (all my kinfolk is Catholic; i replaced into raised Catholic; I went to Catholic college; and CYO; I even studied to be an alterboy). I even have heavily stated 4 generations of Catholics. I even have examine from the expert Catholic Catechism. I even have examine background, the two Catholic variations and non-Catholic variations. So, I even have certainly inquired; and that i urge ALL to inquire and locate the fact of the Catholic Church. As God's be conscious teaches, "practice ALL issues" (one million Thes 5:21). and that i've got shown that the Catholic Church is the source of "ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." and that i've got examine the Bible, the be attentive to God. And the Catholic Church is the antithesis of all its teachings; they're against each little thing that's Christ. include the fact! no longer Catholicism. .

Test yourself, think of something deeply that you need. And just believe that your need can be accomplish. And just wait for your change to come. The bible says that you can have a mustard seed of faith. A mustard seed is not alot. So just try it.

truely you must read the Bible, for your self, and faith comes by hearing the word of God. You must go to the church that works for you, and can feel in your heart. That is why there is many churches, so can choose for our self.

Your beginning to GET A BRAIN AND THINK FOR YOURSELF.
Don't be afraid!! You must be far too intelligent to be all that religious crap, and now your conscious mind is telling you so.
Learn. Discover. Leave your pathetic lies behind you, and find truth. Leave the church, and study many diferent philosophies outside of Christianity.
