What is the immigration process for someone who wants to come to the USA from colombia?

I am a US citizen and am wanting to send for a sister in law that is in Colombia. My wife is on a 2 year visa applying for a permanent visa early next year. Would this be a long drawn out process or is it easier than many think?

Contact INS. You will need all kinds of paper work, including an affidavit of support. How long depends mostly on the Columbian govenment.
