Illegal aliens shouldn't be granted jobs, health care, access to schools. Americans would be glad to take the jobs (higher prices ...Americans would be happy to pay higher prices to insure that only legal residents and legal aliens held American jobs). So with that in mind, why should we grant amnesty?

Latina, you keep saying immigrants. Immigrant is a legal term that means legal alien. They are illegal aliens and so deserve nothing from the American people or the American government. If they want to work at cheap wages...great! But they need to become Americans first.

I am a legal latina living in the US and i understand your point. But, there are BIG things you are leaving out. You say that Americans would gladly take the jobs that as of today, ilegal immigrant workers hold. Well, i know plenty of families and individuals that they have the jobs they do because Americans dont do certain jobs. We immigrants see it as a way of supporting our families and making progress in todays world, and SOME Americans see the same job with discuss or too low of a pay to all you have to do. Now, economically immigrants are doing a whole deal of alot for this country, by making the economy run. How? because they work a minimun wage or even below the wage for the job, and then the American company makes profit and its not spending as half of what an American worker expects to receive therefore, the American company is benefiting. Understand how it goes? Schooling wise, i dont see why someone couldnt educate themselves here in the US. Anyone can do as they want, US students have been to other countries to study and there has not been a problem, so why down on students whom want to study in the US. With the all the babyboomers retiring there is a real need for doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. Alot of people dont want to go into that profession because of all the years or difficulty or whatever the case may be. But then there is that immigrant whom wants to study and be in the medical field and work hard and earn a living, but no they cant because they arent legal. Then the government has to go and bring doctors, nurses and other medical staff from another country because there isnt enough here. That to me makes NO SENSE. Because if they legalize these immigrants the economy will rise even more and work even better. Why do i say this, well if they are giving the right to study and work legally then, they will buy houses here. They will spend their money here in the US and not send them to their own countries.

Amnesty should be granted only in individual cases, whether for immigration or anything else. We should NOT grant 12,000,000 illegals amnesty. We should bill the Mexican government for any and all expenses dealing with these illegals, fine, jail, deport the illegals. But, we need to punish all those who employ illegals.
It is often said that illegals do jobs Americans won't do: that is blatantly false. Perhaps Americans won't do the same jobs for the same pay; however, my neighbor, an American, pumps septic tanks, for crying out loud!

Dear Latina
Stop finding excuses. If you are illegal then you go back home and come legally. This is how it is where ever you go.
There are so many people who come from around the world as students paying a lot of money. There are so many people who come here by getting a work permits due to their knowledge acquired by their hard work. They made a choice to call this country home and they have adapted to it. Just like in every other country. These people will contribute to this country much more than people who crossed the border illegally. And yet we are strict on them and tell them to go away when there Visa is expired.
I come from a poor asian country and from a poor family. I went to public schools, studied hard, got good grades, learnt English very well, applied for college in the US, got scholarships due to my good grades, worked hard for honors degree, got a work permit, and worked toward my green card.
And why dont you ask some illegals to go back home and see if the work doesnt get done. It will get done. Thats how it works in free market economies.
You always have a choice where ever you are and you know what the consequences. If you made the wrong choice then you should correct yourself or face the consequences, dont justify it with excuses.Follow the law, thats all we ask.

They don't deserve amnesty they broke the laws getting into our country, besides that why should they be entitled to benefits that we work for all our lives and they did not? I also think the illegals are probably making it harder for the people that obtained legal documents to become an American Citizen. Bottom line if they are illegally in this country then they need to be sent back home. Do you think we would be granted Amnesty if we went to their country? Not likely.

no amnesty. send the illegals back and fast track the immigrants citizenships that have been waiting in line for years. it's not fair that many good and decent immigrants have waited, applied and paid legally for their citizenships only to have 12 million plus jump in front of them in line. plus i am sick to death of paying taxes for others who pay nothing in taxes to enjoy the benefits which i cannot enjoy. i.e. education system, healthcare, welfare etc. even our elderly who have been paying into the system for decades cannot enjoy the same benefits illegals do. too if you grant amnesty to all 12 million plus illegals what will that do to the social security system where those who have paid nothing into it are going to be able to reap the benefits of it within a few years as they turn older. we will have every 65 yr old illegal here just to get in on that deal and our own older citizens will be left with nothing.

we shouldn't
I asked a person at home depot how much they charged and they charge $20/hour that's three times minimum wage. I think there are americans who want to work for less than that.

There is absolutely no reason unless you are a politician trying to pander for votes.
We have to build 1 elementary school a day to keep up!
It drives property values up due to overcrowding and down due to crime and degradition.

You've answered your own question. No, we should not grant amnesty, basically "forgive and forget" to a bunch of crooks who broke into our country, stole our identities, consumed our benefits and their only net contribution has been a crime rate four times the national norm.
