This has happened with every cat I've ever owned and I've always wondered why! My cats eyes get really big and black and dialated, her tails getts puffy and she starts running around the house either like she's chasing something, or like something is chasing her but there's nothing there! It's like she sees a ghost or something! What is that all about and why do cats do it???

Most cats that I've had do that. My kitty, Luke, does it. I call it "crack kitty" because she gets so strung. And if you try to pet her when she's in this mood, she jumps a foot in the air! It's hilarious! I think the reason is just because, like someone said before, to run off excess energy. Cats sleep something like 16 hours a day! So they must have something in there. It's funny when Luke does it because she has blue eyes and they get absolutely gorgeous when she gets in this mood! I would be more worried about a cat who didn't start acting like a "crack kitty". My mom had one, just a little 10 week old guy. He never did that. He just sat and rested with this thoughtful expression. He died of some mysterious cause a few weeks after she got him too, but he was a farm kitty first so she has no idea what he might have already had.

Believe it or now not cats exhibit affection this manner. We have cat and it is vitally affectionate. It will arise and rub to your hand and like to have its neck rubbed then out of nowhere she is going to flop at the floor, roll over, grasp you hand with all 4 paws, attempt to scratch you with the again paws at the same time retaining your hand at ease with the entrance paws and continue to chunk. If the bites don't seem to be breaking the dermis then I suppose this can be the case, without doubt the claws will make scratches it doesn't matter what as they're sharp. If the cat desired to chunk ot kill it might don't have any challenge breaking the dermis. Cats may even certainly not disclose there bellies if are looking to safeguard themselves in the event that they consider real threatened as it is a so much inclined side in their our bodies. They are handiest use to their instincts. If you ever watch 2 cats play in combination it would close to appear like an all battle to us but when they aren't going for the kill then they're simply gambling hard.

My cats get it too. I call it getting the Willie-Woos. I have one especially that gets it. He lays on the floor with his tail swinging side-to-side and his head darting back and forth waiting for something to move...anything. Then he's off and running. He'll then come back and do it again. He'll even jump one of the other cats if they are in his path. He get SO wound up! He's especially bad if a storm is coming or a change in the weather. He's not bored and has toys. It's just a bunch of excess energy built up.

Have you thought of getting friend for your cat to play with? That helps get rid of some of their energy and they have someone to snuggle with when they wear down.

Most wild cats sleep for much of the day. they burn most of their energy during the chase for their meals. After this they clean, nap and get ready for another chase. So some of this remains in our little domestic cats. They don't necessarily hunt for food and spend most of the day not doing too much so when they have much latent, or built up, energy they just run about until it is out of their systems.

Because that's what cats do to burn off energy. It might be her toys, if they have catnip in them. Catnip makes cats act crazy most of the time. My cats do the same thing, I think its just because sometimes they get a wild hair and need to run and play.

Most cats do this time to time - they're just having fun! I have one cat, Luna, who'll snooze most of the day or hide out behind my clawfoot tub - seriously antisocial.

But the minute I go to bed I can hear her racing across the living room and this deep throaty "rrrrrrrrrrr" noise as she whizzes by. I think that's her saying "WHOOOOHOOO THE HOUSE IS MINE!!!!"

Have you ever in your life had a spazz out moment? Think back on when you were a child... Did you ever feel like you were sooo hyper that you just had to run around and get your energy out? Well, that is what is going on with your cats! They just need to get their wiggles out! LOL!

A noise or a smell or even a little knat can cause that reaction...Cats are weird like that sometimes...It's just their nature... At least every cat that I've ever had, is like that, at some time or another....
