C'mon, you can't lie your way out of it, simply because your faith has more festivals honouring her, than Jesus! Also, in your parades of her, her graven image, is far more huge than Jesus, and not only that, but she's placed BEFORE Jesus in your parades, while He's placed last in line, no bigger than a fist, IF He's included at all!
So just WHY do Catholics break Gods' Number One Commandment by bowing down to, and worshipping a graven image? Not only that, but of a dead woman as well?
Inquiring minds wish to know.

Sigh. Here we go again.
You have an inquiring mind, you say? Here's some reading for you, then.
Mary:

The Saints (including veneration, which is NOT WORSHIP, but don't trust me on this one -- check your dictionary):

1. Catholics only the Lord God Almighty (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). 2. We like Mary, and we honor Mary, but we don't worship Mary. Think of it this way. If a guy says, "I love Jesus" and "I love my mom", would you say he worships his mom the same way he worships Jesus? 3. The Bible says to confess your sins to another person (James 5:16) and the Bible says that Jesus enabled His priests to forgive sin in His name (John 20:21-23). When Catholics go to confession, we ARE following the Bible and we ARE receiving forgiveness from God - the priest is only acting as His agent. The priest doesn't personally forgive. 4. Catholic bow down to God *near* statues, they don't bow down *to* statues. We only bow down to and worship the Lord. 5. The Rosary is a devotional about Christ. There are daily topics (today: Jesus' agony in the garden, His whipping by the Roman soldiers, His crown of thorns, His carrying of the Cross, and His Crucifixion -- all events that I'm sure you recognize from the Bible). As we meditate on these topics, we pray prayers from Scripture, like the Our Father (Matthew 6:9ff) and the Hail Mary (Luke 1:28 + Luke 1:42). Does that really sound like a bad thing to you? 6. Catholics are strictly forbidden from idol worship.

We do not have more festivals in honor of Mary just look in the Sacramentary. Every celebration is a celebration of Jesus. If Mary is depicting holding the Baby Jesus then ,of course the Mother figure will be spacially bigger but the Baby is central. Christ has been the main figure in every procession I've ever seen.
If you are inquiring, look up Exodus25:18 in which God commands themaking and honoring of angel statues. Nobody who is in Christ is dead really Mark 12:26

I'm not Catholic however I do know that they do not worship Mary. They do pray to her, that is all. And while we are on the subject of breaking commandments, do you keep the 7th day Sabbath holy like the 4th commandment says you should? I'm guessing not.

Interesting assumption. Where are you getting your "facts"?
Just because the bands come before Santa in a parade, doesn't mean the people think more of them than the 'star".

I'm with you! Mary is given too much priority over Jesus and God in the Catholic Faith. She did play a very important role, but she seems to be put 1st and this is wrong. Pray to God first, then ask Mary to help get the message to him if you feel you weren't able to do it yourself. However God always hears your prayers.

Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn. This question is getting very old and very tired.
If you REALLY want to know the honest answer, search YA and you'll find it asked/answered several times every day.
I would like to encourage my fellow Catholics to just ignore this question when it comes up from now on. If we don't grace them with the answer for the hundredth time, maybe they'll stop this hateful and misinformed insanity.

We do not worship Mary, we ask her to pray for us and with us. Its the same as asking friends to pray for you. Stop being so ignorant of the faith that started yours
