Probably best they don't know ... maybe if we knew how many singles do that (for whatever reason) or how many couples spank each other "for fun" we'd be surprised. Sounds to me mostly it is outward manifestations of a bored life.
You're just 16, you are still a minor, you still live in their house. So in a way anything you do is "their business".
But you are a teen, too. It's not like you are a little kid.
WHY do you do it? Maybe cause they've not punished you with spankings? Maybe if you told them, then when you misbehave they'd spank you "long and hard" to the point you would never want to be spanked again!
If possible, try to find others, genuine, with similar problem. Help each other be so busy with life they (and you) don't have time for such "fetish".
Whatever your "fetish", do make sure it never harms anyone else. And try to keep it from harming yourself.

While my own parents know of my spanking lifestyle, I'm 35, and not 16. At your age, you would be best to keep it to yourself, or share it with someone that you KNOW shares the interest. This is hard to do, though, since there really aren't many places that minors into spanking can converse on the subject.
Contrary to Philip's suggestion, do NOT join an adult site. There is a reason for such sites to be marked as 18+, and going there will only get yourself in trouble, and anyone that makes the mistake of talking to you while you're there. Wait until you're 18 to join such sites, when you can do so legally.
However, there are some PG-13 sites available where you can discuss this sort of thing, though in a non-graphic manner. If you're on Gaia Online, there are several BDSM guilds (again, PG-13) that discuss BDSM with the same objective manner that a sex education course discusses the act of intercourse. Topics are informative, such as safety or relationships, and avoid concepts that would make the topic adult in nature. I operate one such guild, called the Chambers.

Well, for starters, you just told everyone. Personally, there is no need to tell your parents. Wait until you get into trouble and tell them that you require further punishment for all of the other things you ever got away with. (LOL) Find a close friend that understands and will share that moment with you. There are many closeted and private people out there. You may also join a dating service, and make that a requisite. Just keep your eyes wide open. After you have found 'that one', you can close one eye.

I suppose you could tell them, but what would that accomplish?
You can tell someone else and save the embarrassment with having to live with them.
I used to self spank as well, before I was in the relationship I am in. Once I started this relationship, I told my boyfriend and he was completely open with me and willing to try it.
Also, you can tell one of your friends, a therapist, a school counselor, anyone really that you can confide in. I was always ashamed of having this fetish so there is no way that I would tell my parents. But if you feel that you could benefit from it and save the embarrassment, then alright tell them.

I'm a big fan of spanking for fun and have been since I was about 12. I don't see any reason to bring it up to your parents. There isn't anything wrong with it, but they don't need to know. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a girlfriend/wife who is into spanking your bottom so you don't have to do it yourself. Find yourself a kinky girl in your area to talk to about it, but leave your parents out of it.

You know your parents best, so if your instinct is not to tell them, probably go with that. Or you could maybe sound them out obliquely, tell them there's a friend of yours who's confided he likes to be spanked, and see how they react.
As for telling a friend - you need to be absolutely certain you can trust him or her. Otherwise, if it gets out, there are always going to be stupid people who'll ridicule you. The best plan, I'd suggest, would be to join one of better spanking sites - try SIN (Spanking InterNet) or Spanking Classics. You'll find plenty of friendly and supportive people there and (if it's what you want) maybe even meet someone who'll be happy to spank you. Good luck!

If you bring it up with your parents don't call it a fetish, that makes it sound worse. Tell them you feel you deserve punishment for something (not doing chores, homework, etc) and if they will help you do it. Tell them you feel if you were to be spanked for it you think you'd be better at doing it on time/right. Good luck.

I wouldn't think you would really want to tell your parents. You may just need someone to talk to. Why don't you see if anyone on Y. Answers has similar interests and is either willing to email you about it or can give you a good website you can visit.

I can guarantee that this is something your parents do not want to know about you. T.M.I. Find someone else with the same interest to talk to about it, I'm sure you could find a chat room with lots of people with similar fetishes.
