Chi is the one to use, for sure.

I recently purchased a Sedu and have had it for about a month now. It is strong enough for thick or problamatic hair, but I must add I was extremely disapointed with how damaging it is when used on a higher heat setting. The iron I had before this was a Remington wet 2 straight and this iron on the highest setting though much less effective for straightning was WAY less damaging than the Sedu. Although the Sedu has great results minus the damage. If your hair is not too wavy I would suggest trying the Solia from Folica.com I have heard it does not straighten as well as the Sedu however, the damage is far less. I would advise you not to buy a Chi as I have heard from most that have owned them that they are trash after one year.

I have very thick hair. My straightener, the Chi, always seems to work pretty well and does a very nice job. However, lately there have been some complaints against the company with regards to them not doing a good job on the manufacturing of the iron. I would recommend the Sedu. It takes less time to straighten my hair than the chi and it also gives my hair a really nice shine.

Have you tried a ceramic flat iron? I've had several of these, and they are awesome! I have thick, wavy, hair, but with a ceramic straightener, it goes very smooth and shiny. The one i have now is by "Helen of Troy", and was about $40, and I've had it for over two years, use it almost every day. Also, I have this flat iron hair spray that helps a lot, along with protecting your hair from the damaging heat of the straighteners. It called "The Zone" flat iron protection spray, and is about $6 per bottle. You just mist it on your hair, straighten, and it makes it even shinier and smoother. I've had other hair straighteners that were silver or gold plated, and they didn't work nearly as well as my ceramic one. It's because the plates get up to 500 degrees (on mine) and the heat is distributed evenly. Hope this helps :)

I'm not really sure what a Sedu is, but I deff. say a chi. But chi's are really expensive! A really good chi is about $200! They're expensive!! But the staightener I have is a wet to style. I got mine at wal-mart for about $30. I really like it. My sister has a Wet to Straight. Which is basically the same. And her hair is THICK and wavy! And it works really well for her! But it kinda takes time. If you get a chi, it'd probably take less time to straighten your hair. But their expensive!

I've tried the less expensive ones, and finally popped for a CHI Turbo after being disgusted every time my hair would go wavy again. It's awesome. It keeps the straightness until you wash your hair the next time. I have thick wavy hair and it takes me 11 mins to straighten it.

for thick and wavy hair, the best straighteners for you are going to be ceramic, not metal or any other material. the ceramic will get just hot enough to straighten your hair but not hot enough to burn it to a crisp.

I have a digital Sedasilk that I picked up at a beauty supply store. It would probably be a good idea to go there, ask a beautician or someone at the counter to examine your hair type and then help you pick one out.

Chi is amazing. It's also really expensive.

Try some of the generic simulators of the Chi at Sally's Beauty Supply. They had a ton of different models and I was able to get a great one for about 50$, much better than Conair.

My 2" Chi heats up very fast and only takes a few passes to straighten the hair. It also does not fry my hair because it has an adjustable temperature dial.

A ceramic straightener is the best no matter what brand it is. its about 150 to 200 $ though and is best when it has a ceramic heating in it too but its the only one that straightens and makes your hair shiny. the other ones I've tried all sucked. Plus it heats up fast.

I really like the wet to straight. I have thick wavy hair to. I like the smaller one compared to the big plates. I also use this styling product that I got from smart styles in side wal mart it's called design line get it pressed. I have the shampoo, conditioner and the spray. It's spendy but so worth it.
