I understand the desire to help others in need.
what i disagree with is simply that illegals chose to:
.. leave their family/risk themselves to sneak into another country Knowing full well that WHAT THEY DO IS BREAKING THE LAW.
..Many Christians FORGET..the .."Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." (Matthew 22:17-21 RSV) quote
..this statement was Jesus's response to a question about paying taxes to Rome/Caesar BUT The directive is clear..
one should not ignore the laws/directives of a ruler/government /nation..
...so if one acts against others directly (steal,...)OR by breaking their laws (illegal entry) ..They have no spiritual
authority or blessing.
The USA has a detailed process whereby which on can apply to live/work in USA. A desire for anything (new job/place to live, car,...) does not justify dishonesty.
The catholic church and other churches..assume that God would sanction the idea that anyone/anytime could desire xx,declare a "need" for it and then demand that others help them as it is the christian thing to do...
I disagree...
illegals are not a "stranger " in distress; They placed themselves in distress. They use deceit to achieve their desire .
I think th churches should not provide sanctuary and hide /get employment for illegals,. Illegals are not harmed by the government just sent back..

I don't think that the Catholic Church helps illegal immigrants enter the U.S. What they do is be a safe haven for those less fortunate individuals. The Catholic Church has one duty and that is to follow the words of Jesus. Jesus' message is love. We as catholics have a duty to love our fellow human beings. The church answers to a higher power, not that being said INS can and does have the right to enter a church and remove any illegal immigrants.
Oh and Tijuana is in Mexico not the US just because the article is written in english does not mean it is about the US
So NO the church does not help anyone enter the country that is a silly statement, they do however help the less fortunate.
They help the individuals who have been deported from the US, they help them in Mexico not in the US. You need to pay attn. to your article

because it is their Christian duty. The U.S. was founded on immigrants and the "open door" policy. The catholics ( if this story is true) are only keeping with the word of promise given by all Americans when the door to our country was opened the first time. I completely and categorically disagree with the closing of the gates, I just think that it shouldn't be so EXPENSIVE to get in. If the Border Patrol would let people in, and document them properly, then no one would "jump the fence"
And there is a big difference between "migrants" and immigrants" one is moving THROUGH our land and the other is moving TO it.

If you separate politics from the mission that Jesus gave Christians, which was to help the poor and downtrodden, then quite simply here is a "mission" that needs to be fulfilled, and the Catholic Church is the one that is there to do that. Certainly nobody else seems to be doing that.
Some may resent such a mission being carried out, because it aids those who are perceived to be a threat to the economic security and hegemony of Americans in there own country, but that doesn't cut any ice when the only issue is a human being in need, which is the case in the minds of many Christians.

i don´t think they will help illegals enter the U.S. but also, i do believe they will help illegals in the U.S. I do believe its wrong, look how many U.S. citizens are out of work, homeless and starving because of the illegals flooding the U.S. last time i gave an answer like this, it was removed. any way, I live in Peru South America now because i got tired of fighting for work. Those illegals work for half or less then half the minimum wages. and some people say the illegals are good for the economy........WRONG! they are killing the U.S. Citizens! Plain and Simple!!!
and if you think i am wrong, well, :)

That just shows that the church is a political entity. They are always aiding criminals. As a matter of fact they hid pedophiles and allowed them to continue abusing children for years. All in the name of God? They should be tried under RECO. It is not against the first amendment because they are a criminal organization.

Your question is not consistent.
The Catholic Church is not helping them enter illegally, they are just helping them once they ARE here with food and shelter
I do not believe in Illegal immigration, but if we don't or can't send them back, we can not humanely just throw them out in the streets without food or a place to sleep, that is an atrocity.

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church supports human rights and humane immigration law, not crime.
You shall not oppress an alien; you well know how it feels to be an alien, since you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt. (Exodus 23:9)
The émigré Holy Family of Nazareth, fleeing into Egypt, is the archetype of every refugee family. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, living in exile in Egypt to escape the fury of an evil king, are, for all times and all places, the models and protectors of every migrant, alien and refugee of whatever kind who, whether compelled by fear of persecution or by want, is forced to leave his native land, his beloved parents and relatives, his close friends, and to seek a foreign soil. (Exsul Familia, Pope Pius XII, 1952)
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" (The Statue of Liberty)
Jesus said, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:39)
If we truly believe and live this greatest commandment then we believe that the earth, this country, everything we have are gifts from God, which we are called to share with our less fortunate neighbors.
With love in Christ.
