Yes we do! Many of the same people that say we are not bound by the laws of the OT use them when restricting their children (tatoos, peircings, etc)

Who's We?

Umm... that's different. I don't want my children to get tattoos/outrageous piercings while they are juveniles, because I feel they may not be able to fully realize that they are committing to a lifetime of having to sport some cheesy rose on their ankle, and I don't think they realize how tacky one of those little wingy-looking tats across the lower back just above the behind is gonna look someday when it's wrinkled and jiggly. Or what a two-inch-diameter hole through their earlobe is going to look like to a potential employer someday.

But if the baby I'm carrying is a boy, I may or may not have him circumcised. That is a Jewish ritual, and one of the things the apostles Paul and Peter said was no longer required in Christ. Neither am I required to offer up a sacrifice for sin- Christ was the final sacrifice. Pages and pages of ritual sacrifices required by Mosaic law are no longer in effect under Christ.

Knighteyres- sorry, you're wrong there. The NT specifically spoke about dietary laws. Remember Peter being instructed to kill and eat unclean animals? God told him not to call "unclean" what He had made clean. Yes, that was in reference to the Gentile believers. It was also in reference to their customs (those which were merely dietary/traditional, not immoral). God blesses any food received with thanksgiving. The primary purpose of most OT laws was to set apart the Jewish people. In Christ there is no longer Gentile or Jew.

There are a total of 613 laws in the OT. Some say we are free of them then still use lev. as slam verses. I am begining to think the don't know it is in the OT. Others say that the OT stands and Jesus made it perfect. In all they have chosen about 8 of the laws to stand. My guess is that these are the ones they can live with. I have come to realize that they worship their church and not God. To them God stopped talking to his people almost 2000 years ago, so now all they hear are the pastors passing along dogma to the masses.

when sin happened in the old Testament, a sacrifice was required. Maybe kids who got tatooe and ruined the holy temple of their body that God created were burned as a sacrifice for their sins and then in the NT Jesus suffered horribly on the cross for all the sins of the world so you new brats don't have to burn, but maybe in hell

you know, parents should take into context that whole tattoo thing. it was common in that time for rebels, cults, whatever to mark themselves. whether it be ink or scar or anything, you weren't supposed to associate with them. now anyone can get them without joining a club!
we are not bound by those laws but many people still respect them and follow them. but only when it suits them. most just go by NT

I agree the food laws are still in effect just do a search on disease from biblical unclean animals and you will see. Pork meat adds fat to you when you eat it and pigs have no muscle building properties in the meat and they are just nasty and catfish and lobster is the same way. The only laws Jesus took away is you don't have to sacrifice a animal for your sins any longer because Jesus became that sacrifice

ok, this is the best way I can say it...... this is what I beleive to be...... ok, the old testement was written BEFORE Jesus, right ??? they had to sacrifice, wash before this and that, they had all kinds of *laws* to go by.... right ??? do you still sacrifice ?? wash ?? are you allowed to enter the church if your a woman ?? are you allowed to speak in church if your a woman ? the OT , yes is part of scripture and should be read and used and believed and is still part of being a Christian, BUT, and that word is all thru the Bible, we are NOT under *LAW* anymore, we are under GRACE now.... we do not have to kill an animal or this or that...... please read the gospels of Paul....... remember, the first 4 gospels are written still under *law*, they were also written BEFORE the work of the cross...... Jesus himself said he was the FULFILLMENT of the law......but, lest I be a stumbling block to you, if YOU go by the old testement, then be blessed...... God bless

It tends to mean we aren't following all the laws Levitical and others that Jews followed. Such as circumsision and kosher foods etc. Some people use it to excuse any behaviors.

It's selective. You folks preach against homosexuality because Leviticus calls it an abomination, but then you do nothing about the next sentence, which calls shellfish an abomination!

Would you really feel good about following the laws of the OT, which call for stoning and death by fire? Not very nice.
