As you know through our history people have used the bible to justify killings. More people have been killed in the name of God then any other name. If you want to justify flying an airplane into a building and then say the people that did it will go to heaven and the innocent will go to hell, you can do that using the Bible (Koran). Bomb the abortion clinic? Kill the jews in the holy crusade? Did not God kill all the planet except Noah and his family? Bible is not great by itself. It takes a good person to interpret it. It is easy to fall into one part of the bible or see what you want to see. Or use the book to justify your desires. Like you are doing. You are not wrong. But you definitely missed the point. Don't read the bible with a dark heart. Don't feed your children with a dark heart. Don't hold hands with your lover with a dark heart. Read the bible with a good heart. And live life with a good heart. In the end, I don't think the bible makes you a good person. You have that task for yourself.

All of these verses are results of disobedience. And if you live a life of disobedience to God, the consequence is much worse. It is eternity in Hell. There is absolutely nothing worse than that. If you take the time to read the whole story surrounding these passages, you will see that God does not hate children, nor any other human.

I haven't read the bible, but I plan on doing so. here's my answer based on my own religion:
a merciful god would never hate children. why he was the one taking care of them in thier mother's womb, and since he's so weak, god sends an angel to help on getting him out of his mother's womb. he grows weak under his protection, he's being fed, cured from diseases with his well, and mercy. and ispite of all that care provided to him, humanbeings grow up and disobey god, but if they ask for forgiveness, god is always near. you don't need to pray in church, you don't need to confess your sins, god is everywhere and he's closer to you than you imagine. he's there to help us whenever we are in trouble, all you have to do is ask him.
the simple fact that you have your health, the simple fact that you have youre eyes, the simple fact that you have your feet, hands, shelter..is evident enough that god is merciful inspite of the sins people commit.
think about how many sins you've comitted, and think: why would god did not take those blessings from me?? god is there waiting for you to repent, but sometimes it takes a grave shock for a person to realize that fact.
you thank your god on everything, even on the hardships you have, why? cause it's proof enough that god loves you. for us muslims, even if a small throne pricks your feet, that would erase your sins.
how could you think that such a merciful god would hate children?!!!
