He destroyed New Orleans becasue of the sin there right? He sent the Tsunami to desrtoy heathens right. And he gives sinners cancer and herpes. Isn't that a good reason to beilive?

P.S. I've just heard so much crap about how natural disasters are a sign from god, then isn't cancer and disease his way of punishing people and why did he give grandma cancer, she was nice.

God didnt do that, weather did. the weather is linked to the melting of the ice, which some call global warming. Thats not God, thats the sun

God dosen't give people hardship...satan does. satan is the ruler of this world and until God comes for his children bad things are going to happen. and all the crazy weather and disease and famine are just a few of many prophecies taking place that the bible predicted will happen. it clearly says that the earth will be like the days of noah and of lot....and this will be signs of the end of days. if your a child of God then you have nothing to worry about but if you haven't recieved salvation by accepting the free gift that Jesus offers then you are looking at a really grim future ahead of you. The bible has predicted too many things correctly for you to ignore. and it also says that He gives everyone chance after chance to come to him so no one is with excuse on judgement day. if you don't know him then one day he wont know you either. and it does not matter how nice or good you are you can't work your way to heaven. and if you are saved by grace then satan will do what ever he can to try and turn you from God, even kill millions and give sweet grandmothers cancer. but if you have faith in Jesus and the work he did for everyone on the cross then one day you will be delivered from your sufferings.

""""He destroyed New Orleans becasue of the sin there right? He sent the Tsunami to desrtoy heathens right.""""

here's the answer according to my beliefes as a muslim:
what you said is true, disasteres are punishments, but they are also signs. one of the minor signs of the coming of the judgement day is the increase in the number of natural disasters. these signes were predicted centuries ago, and now every single one of them is coming true.
another proof that they were punishments is the fact that animals were intact after the tsunami disaster. mosques were intact as well...need other proofs??

"""then isn't cancer and disease his way of punishing people and why did he give grandma cancer, she was nice."""

it's a proof that god loves her. every hardship given to people is god's way of erasing that person's sins before he dies so that he can go to heaven. god loved your grandmother...true her experience and yours must've been painfull, but eternal glory would be hers for her sins were washed away with her suffering.

we thank our god on everything, even on the hardships we face, why? cause it's proof enough that god loves us. for us muslims, even if a small throne pricks your feet, that would erase some of your sins. but that doesn't mean that people should go and intentionaly hurt themselves so that thier sins would be forgiven like the shi'a muslims do. NO THAT'S INSANE, according to the true islamic beliefes, praying to god is enough to erase your sins, but there are those that you are not aware of, and sometimes, people go throgh hardships to realize the true blessings they have. those who think of commiting sucide would defenitly learn how valuble life is, or how good thier life is compared to others.
what I'm trying to say is: live and thank god on whatever you get. there's a saying that goes like this: you go through a hardship and you hate it, but you later on realize how good that harship was.
I my self am suffering from panic attaks, but do I hate god, no on the contrary, I know that god loves me, I know that the goodness of this experience lies on teaching me patience, erasing my sins, and realizing the true value of my life.
this may all sound hazy to you, but you'll realize that god never does something without a reason, he's merciful, and loving, and you must have faith no matter what, that he definitly knows what is good for humanity.

God doesn't give people hardship. Everyone brings things on themselves by not going by the laws of God and nature. Its our factories and cars and different things that are polluting our skies and in return we get violent weather. people break Gods food laws and get disease. People always want to blame God or someone else for their problems when actually it is our own mistakes that cause us problems. and I think if any city would deserve disaster from God it is LA becase that where most of the perversion and pornography comes from in movies which is more sin then anything that goes on in New orleans

I think someone needs to read their Bible again. God does not do these things to just the sinners. There were the faithful in New Orleans too. I've had cancer (removed without recurrence for over 10 years), and I don't consider myself a "sinner".

In answering this question, I am hoping that yours is a sincere question and not a hook to draw Christians in for a bashing. You asked several very good questions and deserve decent answers.

First, if we had just been obedient in the Garden of Eden, God would never have given us anything but paradise. (Read Genesis)

Still, God continued to give humankind many chances to be obedient to Him, but we were not. (Read Exodus, Kings, and all 4 Gospels) We have a long history of disobedience to God.

Secondly, God is allowing us to be "battered about" by the enemy/satan. However, we can still be obedient IN SPITE of hardship. (Read Job)

In other words, we are still given the choice of being obedient to Him.

God did not destroy New Orleans because of their sin, nor give herpes to fornicators, nor AIDS to IV drug users or homosexuals, due to sin. Sin is sin; it is not on a "badder than" scale of 1-99. Likewise, He did not give your Grandmother cancer because of, or even in spite of her niceness.

The natural disasters as a sign is about the coming of the end times. (Read Revelations)

Bad things do happen to good people. And sometimes, those "not so good" people seem to get good things in their lives. That is, on Earth.

Our accountability to God is in Heaven, where He will expect an explanation from each of us as to why we were not obedient to Him.

I hope this offered you some answers to your questions. I am so sorry about your Grandmother. There are people in my life that suffered in spite of being nice. But I will be reunited with them when I pass from this life on Earth. God bless.

We live in a natural world and therefore we will
have natural occurrences. It has nothing to do with
God and his hand in teaching or punishing this group or that group of people. We have disease because again we are
biological creatures that can contract diseases or illnesses.
I think God's part in it is to give us strength and hope to
overcome and if not then to give us peace for our journey back to him/her.

He does not give people cancer. People do. Cancer is your body breaking down. The white blood cells are not picking up that the mass need to get attacked and put out of the body. We are just copies of a copy of a copy of a copy. Try doing that once and you will see The copy will become distorted. That's cancer.

there are many things in life which we do not have answers for. but one thing i know - God is a giver of good things, not bad. and for those bad things that happens to those ard, it is never from God. however, this doesnt mean that He is not in control of it. He has His reasons for allowing things to happen in life. that is why we need faith to believe in God and faith alone will bring about salvation through Christ.

sometimes we wonder why God takes away the nice people in our life or allow them to be plague by diseases. but we must also remember that this world is just a passing by for us.
