It is pretty easy, If you have a Windows XP CD, just boot from it, and do as it says, it doesn't use 'geek' words, so I find Windows a snap to install.

HOW TO BOOT FROM CD:
When your BIOS splash screen appears (The screen you see when you first turn on your computer, the screen that says ACER or LENOVO or something), press ESC, then choose "CD-ROM". If it doesn't work, try googling "Boot from CD "

Hope this helps!

****One Point advise****
People here have already answered fine. Just remember before doing formatting BACKUP your important data, Address, E-mails, Favorite list, or any other thing important to you.

Do you know there is one freeware which can save all your present setting of Internet explorer so when you start your PC after format it could retrieve all settings. There are software available which can completely back up hard drive.

If you don't have an original CD of XP, you should have some kind of 'restore' drive. You really don't need a "professional" to install an OS..... It's how you learn anyway.....
