I have had my nape (back of neck) pierced for 2 years now. I want to know if i can take out the original barbell and put a nicer looking one in? If so, how hard is it to find the holes, seeing as i cant see what im doing. Also, if i can, does the barbell HAVE to be flexible or can i put in a solid barbell?

I certainly would not advise doing this yourself since you cannot see what you are doing...and also do not have an inexperienced friend do it for you either. For the jewelry, you will probably need to go with a more flexible material in lieu of titanium or other hard metals. Surface piercings are hard to keep and require different jewelry. Using the wrong jewelry can cause rejection and you could lose the piercing all together!

If you want to change out the jewelry, you should try to get back to the piercer who did it for you originally. Two years is pretty successful for a surface piercing, so it seems like you had a knowledgeable piercer. If you cannot get back to that same person, try to find another piercer who has done several surface piercings. Either way, let them know what you are looking for as far as the change in jewelry. They have access to many body jewelry catalogs and can get order you some different ends but can also order the appropriate material.

Good luck!

Do you may have some other piercings? How good did they heal? If you are a rather speedy healer and feature only a few disorders along with your different piercings (and even cuts, anything) Your nape will most often heal up lovely good, assuming you move to a well piercer that makes use of the proper constituents(which i will get into in a moment). If, alternatively, you are a sluggish healer (like me) the percentages of migration broaden relatively a bit of. Surface piercings mostly are frequently lovely complex to heal, the nape isn't any extraordinary. Make certain that you just get it located in an discipline that has little or no motion, or a minimum of as low as viable. Basically get it located as low or as prime as viable, the core of your neck is what actions essentially the most in daily existence. As some distance as constituents move, a few piercers come to a decision to make use of a needle and pierce directly throughout, a few will use the punch and taper approach. For the needle, a rather well piercer wont use clamps given that they reason plenty of trauma to the discipline. The punch and taper approach(if you do not know) method they will use a small biopsy punch to make 2 vertical holes wherein the jewelery will probably be popping out, then they will use a taper, stick it by way of one of the crucial holes after which out of the opposite. This motives little or no trauma to the discipline given that it does not rip by way of the underlayers of dermis, it honestly separates them. nor is rather extra painful than the opposite, however the punch and taper approach takes a bit of longer to conclude, and the percentages of medication are greater As some distance because the jewelery is going, it must seem like this: T____________T That's a facet view. This is the great style of jewelery thus far for medication floor piercings. every so often piercers will use tygon (that is a white/transparent bendy tube), however it frequently does not paintings relatively as good as the outside bar jewelery. If a piercer is utilizing a directly bar or perhaps a rather curved one, RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!! This will regularly warranty it may not heal. How to maintain it? Well, your piercer must let you know, however what frequently works great is to do hot sea salt soaks. This method a million/four teaspoon of sea salt for eight ozof water. take a few cotton puffs and dip them within the combine, then positioned every on both disk of the piercing. depart it on there for approximately five mins and do that two times an afternoon. You will certainly get crusties. If you may have some other piercings, you understand what those are. If no longer, it is simply dried lymph. It's frequently a yellow or white colour. Make certain that while you do soaks you wipe those off with a qtip or whatever an identical. If you ever have any questions if you get your piercing, return on your piercer and ask him/her. They could alternatively spend a while with you and get the whole thing righted out than you by accident reduce to rubble the piercing. Good good fortune!

You should have your piercer do it - most don't charge for a jewelry change, and it's just a little if they do. It's worth it. I would ask the piercer about what you can put in it. I have 3 body piercings, and I would go to them to have my jewelry changed out every time because they do it all the time. I also trust their advice.
