E.coli can be killed with antibiotics. HOWEVER, you should NOT give antibiotics to a patient with E. coli until you know what kind of E. coli it is. There is a certain kind of E. coli called E. coli:O157:H7 that can KILL you if you take antibiotics. Antibiotics plus this bug will result in hemolytic uremic syndrome which is a complication that destroys the kidneys. It can be fatal!

For most part, E. coli infections go away on their own and you can ride it out till you get better. If you don't have that scary kind of E. coli, your doctor could give you antibiotics to speed your recovery.

E. coli comes from fecal matter. We make it naturally, and in our bodies it does us no harm. But sometimes, traces of poop get into our food. When we ingest it, we get sick. You can't see the germs or even the traces of poop, so the best thing to prevent infection is to always wash your fruits and vegetables thoroughly, and always cook your meats till they are cooked all the way through. A hamburger should never be pink in the middle.

It is actually E. coli. It is a type of bacteria and can cause several intestincal infections. You can get it from eating undercooked meat, contaminated water, unpasteurized milk, etc. A few months ago there was this thing about spinach being infected with E. coli. Mainly what happens is you get diarrhea. There isn't really a cure, so just drink lots of water.

Ecoli is a bacteria mainly present in fecal matter (poo) . It may be improperly washed vegetables, ecoli from animal waste ,or a food handler who does not wash his hands properly after visiting the bathroom.

Treatment is an antibiotic.

Any food can be contaminated although cooking should kill the bacteria. Salads are particular risks .
