I say go with him. The drive back will just be you and him and you can spend that time talking. You can stop and buy snacks and drinks and make it into a fun drive. Ask him things about his childhood you dont know or anything about him you dont know. It could turn out to be a day you wont forget. He is old and at that age you never know when the last time you see him will be. But dont go out of guilt go out of love and a chance for a little adventure and fun with him.

Go. If you have any question in your mind about his safety then go with him! It will be an opportunity to have alone time with your dad that you may not get again. Plan a dinner on the way back at someplace you'd both like so there is fun involved.
My dad has been gone for 11 years and I would give a body part up for the chance to spend a day driving with him!

Just do it!,
Help your dad out, it has nothing to do about him getting old. If your mom thinks you should be with him, its a good thing that they can turn to you for help when they need help.
Our family joke is, Its better to have you and not need you, than to need you and not have you.
Why don't you get your mom to help you create a mixed tape, made up of some of your favorite tunes, laced with his favorites. Sometimes, great music on a road trip makes the times very mellow and comfortable. Its a good time to get into one of those really deep conversations you've been wanting to have, but couldn't because other things keep interrupting.
Take the trip, you may have the time of your life.

i think your mom is a sweetheart. she is not demanding this of you - she is asking you. sure you are busy, but, just think of all the things your parents gave up for you, while they were raising you. when you look at it this way, i think you have your answer. i, think, you yourself, will say i should go. enjoy the journey with him, it could be fun. you can learn a lot about your dad if you just ask him and perhaps find out a little more about yourself. you'll have many more free saturday's in life. this is not a big task, and it could be a moment you'll wind up treasuring for the rest of your life. good luck :)

If your Dad has a licence & is well & fit & goes to work
you don't need to go!!!
after all it will only be 3 hours he will be by himself & he can stop for food & coffee etc
but now you have made an issue about it
if something was to happen
you will blame yourself
so now you had better go with him!!
Gee cab drivers in australia are in their sixties though!!

Yeah, it would be great if you went. I take it they don't impose on you all the time? If you can go, you should. How is your fathers health? his eyesight? Is he on any type of medication? Has he just turned sixty or is he closer to 70?
If you feel the trip might be unsafe, go.

What will you feel if he had a accident because you didn't go with him.
When you were a kid he probably took you plenty of places on the weekends when he'd rather be doing something fun for himself.
You're right....he is getting old.
