do i get a paper issue and wait until the plastic one comes in? or just no license and wait until plastic one

If you misplace your drivers license you have to go down to the DMV and get another one, just like the one you lost.

Some states allow you to do this online, but they issue you a replacement that will be exactly like the old one. You will have to wait until it arrives in the mail, that's the downside of online replacement.

You neglected to tell us what state (or even what Country) you are in..

But.. in the US.. most DMV offices will turn out a new license if you go there in person. Takes a few hours. Some states handle it on line with a credit card, but then you have to wait a week or so and carry a printed receipt with you.

Sort of depends on what you need the license right now for.

You'll have to wait dude. No government office does anything quickly. You'll get a paper license right away
