I don't like going "cold turkey". If you are calling your gaming an addiction, then selling them may not be the solution (if you think it is, then by all means try it!). I like the slow and steady approach better.
Perhaps you need to seperate your gaming space and your homework space. Immediately after school head to a quite spot that wont be a distraction (like a bookstore, or a coffee shop or something) where you can get your homework done. Do this for a while until homework becomes a regular part of your afternoons. It won't be easy, but it will be easiER to focus when the games aren't just sitting there, tempting you....
On the weekends, make plans with your friends. Fill up your schedule as much as possible so that you are not near your games, nor do you have time to think about them. Basically, distract yourself, but have a lot of fun doing it.
I hope this helps!

Realizing that you have a problem with gaming self-control was the biggest hurdle. Now, remove all games from your computer and box up any gaming systems that you have. Put everything deep into a closet.
Now go and study. To reward yourself for studying plan to get yourself out to the local pizza joint to meet friends or anywhere else. Reward yourself with social activities.
Be careful that your time online doesn't replace your gaming addiction.

This may seem drastic but your academics is important.
Step One: Throw away your video games
Step Two: Replace video games with books
Step Three: Instead of games as a hobby, go play sports or play outside with your friends.
This will be a start of a new better you.

i agree with Scratchy. Sell your game and your playstation (or if its your pc, then you have to sell your pc). it will be tough at first, but after a couple of weeks you will begin to not miss the game so much.

You have to stop completely -- cold turkey. If you think you can control it by doing it a little, you're fooling yourself.
