What is hell and the devil?
If I sin, will I really be damned to hell for all eternity if I didn't know any better? What if I was doing what I thought was right. Doesn't that make my heart just in the eyes of God regardless of the Bible?
God judges the heart and intentions, yes?

The Devil is a angel who rebelled against God. He and his followers were cast down to earth never to be exulted to the point to return to God and live in heaven with him. Hell is a place of eternal torment, that torment which the person him or her self choose by being rebellious to the word and saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Those who never have the opportunity to hear the word of God and thus never have the choice of all the saving graces will have them after they pass from this world. However those who reject the chance to have them in this world will not get the chance to repent and follow Christ when they are dead.
That is what is meant by God Judges the heart. He will not punish any one who if they had the opportunity to hear his word while living perish in hell for not knowing the truth. That is what is called faith. If I am trying to the best of my ability to do what I think he wants he will see that and I will be judged accordingly. However if I know what he wants and do not do as he asks then also I will be judged accordingly. Also if I murder, rape and steal after being saved I will have no part in his kingdom as I have not followed his word.

That's why i do not believe in the Heaven and Hell of the Bible. I think I'm old enough to behave without fear of being damned to hell for all eternity.

Hell is the deep dark pit that Jesus will throw non-believers into at the judgement. The devil is the evil thoughts that come to our minds. that is satan. not a person. the devil is in sinners minds. It leads people away from God.
If you continue to sin after hearing about God and His words, yes, people will go to hell if they do not do what God tells them to do and follow Him, obey Him, do his will.
No, he does not judge the heart, he judges actions. Whether they be good, or bad.
If you do what you know, and what you think to be the best you can do, and do it with God in your life and mind, then, maybe, things will be right.
God said to love Him with "all our hearts, souls, and minds." that is what we must do, and follow His commandments. Its not that hard to do, and the only thing that is being given up is our sinful ways.

God has put eternity in the heart of everyone.

We all have a conscience. There is no one who doesn't "know any better".

There are no technicalities to get you off the hook.

God wants your heart; he doesn't want to leave it the way he finds it.

Turn to him, ask him for a new heart.

And yes, God judges intentions; the problem is that we can't even judge our own intentions.

Actually you are excused. . . sort of. Remember the words:

Forgive them Father for they don't know what they are doing. . .
Sound familiar. The thing is you should try to know, so read up, get together with your fellows if you believe in The Church then go, they'll teach you, and repent when you find out. The basis of belief is love remember that.

Is there any mature minded person alive that believe they have never done anything evil (committed sin)? Is there real anyone out there that is that self-righteous? If you are honest with yourself you know you have done many things that offend basic morality (you know what that is too so don't give me this "what morality" stuff). You may have even hurt another person on purpose (gossip, can do this). But you justify yourself saying "I'm no worse than everyone else". By thinking of your life as a chocolate cake you can see it the way God sees it.
To bake a chocolate cake you add a lot of wonderful ingredients. Sugar , Flour, Milk, Eggs, Coco.. You mix them in a bowl and and bake then until the cake is done to perfection. But would the cake be good for anything if one one of the eggs was rotten? All those wonderful fresh ingredients ruined by that one bad one... Our lives are like that we add wonderful qualities like love, kindness, compassion, charity. Then we add anger, hate, lust, lies.. We stir this up and bake it for 70 years or so then offer it to God.. Can't you see unacceptable this is to God. Would you want anything given to you that was so filled with filth? No we can't make ourselves acceptable to God. He did that for us in Jesus Christ. He offers us His righteousness and willingly take our sin and covers it with His own blood.. All He asks is that you except the gift of life that He offers.... Jim

Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way that seems right unto a man, but at the end thereof is death." Many people die due to ignorance; they didn't know any better, but that did not prevent them from dying.
