No, I do not agree. It is a religion and if you read your bible it even calls it a religion. Christians like to get involved in popular trends and practices not found in the bible. they believe that in so doing they are better than they really are.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridle not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is in vain. (27) Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

When Christians claim Christianity is not a religion they are calling the bible wrong and false are they not? the bible has no problem with calling Christianity a religion so why are Christians ashamed of this?

Christianity is the a religion. It is the first religion, first group of followers of Christ after His ascended into Heaven. The 12 apostles spread through the lands and built churches and preached His word and they were the first priests. Christ is known as the highest priest, head of the church. He gave His authority to the 12 men. They baptized, married, gave holy orders...the sacraments. Christ believers and followers are Christians and their religion is called Christianity. After 300 yrs some men decided not to follow the church's main authority, the pope (Peter was the first one) and the original church began to call itself the Catholic Church (Catholic means universal, it's the church for everyone). Now there are over 2000 denominations of Christianity. But the Catholic Church is the only one that still has the authority of Christ and follows the papacy started by st. Peter.

A relationship with God is just that. Someone that believes that God exists and prays to Him. They don't belong to a community that has the same doctrines or dogmas or authority. They just do what they want and think is okay. This can be dangerous for their soul. God gave us specific laws and Jesus inforced those and gave certain followers His authority and sent the Holy Spirit (God's Spirit) to guide the church. A church is a group of people from the community that believes in the same thing and gathers together to celebrate in the Lord.

So, no I don't agree with you. You are wrong.

By webster definition, a Christian should be religious.

However, the "Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship" cliche' (way overused IMO), is to describe a unique aspect of Christianity.

In Christianity, God does not remain some distant force, but came to earth in the form of a human being. Christianity also teaches that God desires to reconcile with humankind, through extending grace to forgive the choices people have made to seperate themselves from God. This grace is used to restore a broken relationship.

And that reaching out by God for us, is different than most of the world's leading religions that teach that a person must reach for God by obeying strict rules and practices. On the other hand, Christians obey out of appreciation for the grace that they have been given.

Christianity is a Race from out of this world.
It doesn't belong to a temporal and earthly natural realm but it's is a permanent , heavenly spiritual realm where the citizen are immortal and they are spirit clothed with the Glory of God and that is unapproaching "Light" Unless you are clothed in the same Light -no earthly being human or beasts can live in their (His Glorious Light) presence.
They are also called "The sons of God" and they are presently living in both realm - the earthly and the heavenly, the natural and the spiritual until God's in His own time will destroyed the natural and bring in the spiritual as the permanent abode for all His Saints.

Christianity is a religion. But a religion is a group of people who have the same belief. And that group of people have a relationship with God.

Disagree. It is a belief in god and therefore a religion. And it really annoys me when Christians say their religion is just a "relationship" with god.

Correct. Christianity is a relationship. Religions are more like styles of belief. That's why there are so many Christian religions. There are many people, and not every one will be comfortable with every style of Christianity. Some even have problems acknowledging other styles AS Christian.

Religions are man's attempt to reach out to God. Christianity is the result of God reaching out to man.

Wrong again. It is a spiritual belief living through the christ whom "christians" consider to be GOD(or son of GOD) with the comfort of the holy spirit. But it is a religion by definition seeing that it is a system of beliefs. Peace!
