Well I can take comfort in the fact that when my Mom took her last breath that she was no longer suffering & feeling pain. My brother takes comfort in thinking she is on a cloud or singing with God and the like. I just know that machines are not prolonging the suffering. I suppose that sounds cold but in my opinion death is the end of all. As for thinking about them out of the blue, it is good to enjoy the fond memories you have.

I recently lost my brother and it's been so hard on me because I miss him. He had polio as a child and was in pain most of his life but I KNOW he was saved and baptized so he is much better off now.
Yes it's amazing how out of nowhere their face or name or the smell of their cologne or the way they laughed will pop into your head. But I'm at the point now that when I think of him I smile more than cry .
Find comfort in remembering the good times, the best times you ever had together and hold onto that picture in your mind.

I do not know where people go the moment they die. Even among us Christians, there is the debate of whether someone goes to heaven immediately or goes elsewhere for a time, or simply remains asleep until God brings them back to life for the judgement. I do believe that you can take comfort about your loved ones if they were a believer in God and had a personal relationship with him. At some point, they will have their reward and in the meantime, I am certain that they are not unhappy.

We can't really know. Someone can proclaim Christianity and go to church every time the doors are open and still not be saved. There are a lot of pew warmers in churches today that don't even know what you must do to be saved. They think because they belong to a church, that they are saved. So, we can't know but we can witness for God whenever we get the chance so that in the future, we can know we did all we could to tell our family and Friends about Jesus.

Yes, if they were Christians... believers in and followers of Jesus Christ.
Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. Romans 10:13
Time slowly heals the heartbreak of losing a loved one. God gave us the ability to remember times past. Those special memories are dear and are a good thing. May God bless you.

For some reason, when my grandmother passed, nothing happened. Everyone around me was deeply upset, and I wasn't. It didn't make any sense... They were the ones who believed she was in a better place, and they were crying.. I didn't believe that she was in a better place, I just thought she was dead. They were crying, I was not. It could just be that I know death is simply the end, and no amount of crying, whining, etc. can change that.

I think we cannot generalize someone else's path. I take comfort in knowing that God gave each of them exactly what he/she needed to continue the spiritual journey.
I personally don't think it's healthy to attach ourselves to the deceased any more than we can help it.
In my opinion, we've been through this 1000 times before, so to dwell on a few will only hinder us spiritually.
If you love your kids, you'll let them go away to college, right?

Hello and the bible is very plain on this subject first in Gen.2:7 God when He created us mankind BECAME a Living soul, a soul is NOTsomething God pokes into us and the bible is also very plain that the dead know not anything, in 1Thess.4:15-18 when Jesus returns for those "THAT ARE READY" to meet Him in peace THEN and ONLY then will we together meet The Lord and go to heaven and NOT before, God bless. www.amazingfacts.org

I believe that they will be in Paradise if God chooses them to enter(I hope they are), but I'll know this wil lhappen when the ressurection occurs .So yes Jehovah will take care of them, but I'm not in control of where they'll end up, I can only pray that they're on Jehovah's side. The ball is in his court now with deseased lvoed ones. ,but I know they're not in heaven because the ressurection hasn't occured yet.

I believe their dead, like in a state of eternal sleep, except without the dreams, which means that they don't have to deal with the hassles of life, so technically yes I believe that they are in a better place.
