Every last name is "good". My maiden name was Markham, and I thought that was "good". When I married the first time, I took my husband's last name, Wallace. I thought that was "good". My second husband's last name is Nicholson; and, I think that is "good" also. My daughters married men with the last names of Ramsey, Kingsford, Tomlinson, and Carter. There isn't anything "bad" about those names.

My mother's sir name was McFarland, a "good" old Irish name. My grandmother's sir name was Starr, a well-known family name among Cherokee. I have known people with the last name of Soap, Sulteeskee, Swimmer, Mankiller, and Bluebird. All of these are "good" last names. Some are "pretty cool".

I think a first and last name is more defining than just a last. My cousin's maiden name was Markham, she married a man whose last was McKnight. Their first-born was named Markham McKnight. My brother's last name was Markham, and he joined the Starr and Markham names together to name his thrid daughter Starr Markham.

My grandmother admired Theodore Roosevelt, naming my father Theodore Starr Markham. I was born in 1941. My mother admired the movie star, Jeanne Crain, and enjoyed Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm; therefore my name, Jeanne Rebecca. To me, how I got my first and middle name is much more interesting to me than how I got my last name.

The only "cool" last name I can suggest is Coors; you know, the "cool Rockie Mountain beer"!

Sheridan is no doubt fine. Why don't you keep it? I know a nun whose mother was a Sheridan and her father O'Donnell. Someone said the O'Donnells were known all over County Mayo for their mischief. A friend of the nun said to hear her talk it always sounded like the Sheridans were up to mischief. The reply was the Sheridans came from another county.

DiVecchia...
It's Italian, and it's pronounced Di(short i sound) Vecc (like "peck") hia (like E uh, the h is silent). Haha, no one can read it or say it right, but I still think it's cool! Although, I can't wait to marry out of it! :-)

Finnigan.

Definitely the coolest last name because it's mine.

I've also always liked Zuk. (Pronounced like it's spelt, not like ZOOK).
