I have the "Misto" cooking oil sprayer - I don't like it too well, as it tends to clog and come out in a stream rather than spray. Is there a better product I can use? (not Pam or pre-made sprays.) Thanks! :)

Heather, it actually IS a misto. She's right.

Angelwings, you are also right NOT to use pam. pam is full of chemicals, tastes terrible, and is corrosive to most kinds of cookware. Especially nonstick and bakeware.

Thirdly, you are correct in your assessment of mistos. They suck. I went thru 3 of them. They kept getting clogged. So one day I was watching Alton Brown, and HE was using one of those little 99cent plastic spray bottles like hairdressers use to dampen your hair, but filled with oil. I went to walmart and bought one. It works like a dream, sprays evenly, doesn't clog, and as alton said, why buy a $20 unitasker when you can spend $1?Brilliant!

I don't know where you are located, but if you have a Sur La Table near you they have several different Sprayers available. I have a stainless steel one I got there by Cuisipro that doesn't seem to clog as much as my Misto. They have an online store too: www.surlatable.com

Another thing you can try is rinsing the front of the spray nozzle with warm water after each use, it seems to help. I rinse mine through with hot water and pressure spray it through every other time I use up the oil in it.

Hope this helps! :-)
