When you really truly love someone and have been with them through good times and not so good ones, you are attracted to the person within, the one you can always trust to love you, support you no matter what happens. You look past the outward appearance into that person's heart and soul. You may notice the graying hair or the expanding waistline, but when you look in the mirror you also notice changes. Life is about change - the alternative is death! Only a very shallow person would base their relationship strictly on an outward physical attraction. Many people marry someone who others would not think to be physically "attractive"- why do you think this happens? Because love is based on the whole person - who the person is, not what the person looks like. Would you leave someone who had a tragic disfiguring accident? I hope not! While initial physical attraction may be based on appearance, ongoing attraction is based much more on feelings you have for each other, how you support each other through life.... and love (physically and emotionally) are often even the longer you are together because you know each other so well.
