I am sorry, but you should learn more about your national history, politics and that of the government, as you have made several mistakes in your question.
One thing you should know, and many of those that have already answered your question are equally ignorant of is that Vietnam was one country Legally, NOT TWO, so do not say 'North Vietnam' and 'South Vietnam'. The 1954 Geneva Agreements stated that Vietnam was one country and that the 17th parallel was NOT to be taken as a national or international border, and that nationwide elections MUST take place before July 1956. The USA and the US installed dictator, Pres. Diem refused to allow those elections in the southern provinces along with violating every other aspect of the 1954 Geneva Agreements with troop and military buildups starting as early as 1954.
The government in Hanoi did not start sending people back into the south until 1959 following a conference just outside Saigon which saw the foundation of the NLF (Viet Cong), and at first these were "Southerners" who had gone North as part of the Viet Minh as part of the 1954 Geneva Agreements. Northern Troops were not sent south until after the "Marines" were sent in in 1964.

I know many Vietnamese that came here as refugees in the 80's.
The one that counts the most has my basic training photo in the kitchen of her business. Nothing but Vietnamese work there. Her brother-in-law was a a Major ARVN 1955-1975. Try telling him that YOU know what happened and you will get your azz kicked by a 71 year old man. They lived thru every day of the conflict going back to 1954. They hate communists, Jane Fonda, our press and John Kerry in that order.
We did not invade Viet Nam. We were not the only foreign military there. The S. Koreans were there with a Brigade before us. The Aussies and Kiwi's were there too. The Philippines sent non-combat troops.
A Democratic Congress cut off aid to RVN in 1973 or 74. China and The Soviet Union did not cut of N. Viet Nam.

Yep you lost that one, sort off but if History is to be read properly Vietnam was one battle of many against communism, and guess what, the Berlin wall is a memory and Russia has put its arms around capitalism, and even the Chinese are beginning to loosen up, so by my reading we won.
Of course you wouldn't have the b.......ks to say that in front of a vet from any war, however, maybe you should think about emigrating to some hell hole like Zimbabwe, Dafur, Baghdad, Kabul, or anyone one of hundreds of places where your rights of an individual to say cr.p like that will be excepted only just before your back is put against a wall.

Large numbers of people like you are the reason we didn't stick it out in Vietnam and eventually reach a treaty where there would have been a sovereign and democratic South Vietnam.
Instead, people like you forced the government to withdraw troops and as a result of our sudden troop withdrawel almost one million South Vietnamese were imprisoned and around 100,000 killed in concentration camps. That doesn't count all the ones who died as refugees fleeing the country. So, people like you costs the lives of hundreds of thousands through your flawed political ideals.

it is the politicians who tie military leaders hands and people like you who made fools of the USA back in Vietnam and it is politicians and people like you who are going to make it happen again.
Don't agree with what's going on, but SUPPORT your country.

Actually, Gen Giap (you DO know who he was?) wrote that if the U.S. had continued to bomb Hanoi, if we had let all out during Tet of '67 (and other instances), N. Viet Nam would have surrendered.
Try learning the REAL facts and you won't come across looking so foolish.

I hate the annoying 15 year olds that go on line and say 'lol I'm going to be cool and hate my country'
Obviously you're pretty stupid too. Failed all your history and government classes in middle school? Our Congress makes the decisions not our president.
