Or is that just your excuse for doing your own "thing"?

On our own we have no way to know God, but God loved us too much to leave us in that helpless state. That's why He clothed Himself in flesh and came down to earth as well as having revealed Himself through the Scriptures.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made...14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Christianity, with over 2 billion adherents, leads the pack but Islam, at 1.3 billion, is coming on strong (again). Despite being many centuries older than Christianity or Islam, Judaism has only 14 million adherents. If ANY religion truly is THE right one, I don't believe the competition would have survived this long. If there were a clear, true path to God, everybody would have converted a LONG time ago.

Given all this . . . how are we supposed to decide which religion, if any, is right? The first one? The biggest one? The most sophisticated one? The most realistic one? The competition reduces our choice to a roll of the dice. And why would we go to hell for choosing the wrong one? It's ridiculous. Can God really be so sadistic? And if so, why would you worship him?

So, to answer your question -- an emphatic YES, there is no way to "know" God; no way of knowing which religion is true. Just draw straws . . . it's no different than any other way of choosing.

And "doing" your own thing doesn't need justification or religion. Just make sure you don't hurt anybody else.

There's a way to know God which is reading the Bible and asking Him to personally give you the understanding needed to get to know Him better and thus establish a relationship with Him. I personally believe that religion is a man made thing. In reality it all comes down to a personal relationship with your creator. Through the Bible, a person will if s/he allows it get to know the real, living and eternal God -Who is the same yesterday, today and forever.

He is always waiting on us to come to Him. He created us with free will and for those of us who choose to follow Him upon submitting themselves diligently and fully with all their hearts shall find him. As for those of us who choose not believe that He exists and continue to make excuses will just have to wait until judgement day to see for ourselves which is a positive thing. The negative would the fact that no one can any longer go back and change anything and wish they'd made the rightful choice when they had a chance to.

As for making, it is something that we all do from time to time and again just to justify the way we're living if it contradicts the Holy Bible. Sad but very true. Remain Blessed.

--WELL WHAT ever you mean by G D I do not know OR CARE TO, but if your talking about "God" we certainly do have a way, by a man who conducted himself AS presented in the most accurate portrayal ,the Bible!--THAT BEING the example of Christ and his teachings!
--I'M SURE you knew somebody was going to say that with the lure you put out --for a bite!
--WELL ANYWAY this is what some noteworthy people have said of Christ and his lifestyle:
*** gt The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived
--The historian H. G. Wells said that a man’s greatness can be measured by ‘what he leaves to grow, and whether he started others to think along fresh lines with a vigor that persisted after him.’ Wells, although not claiming to be a Christian, acknowledged: “By this test Jesus stands first.”........
***A Historical Person
--Yet, strangely, some say that Jesus never lived—that he is, in effect, a creation of some first-century men. Answering such skeptics, the respected historian Will Durant argued: “That a few simple men should in one generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle far more incredible than any recorded in the Gospels.”
-NOW IF you wish to try to invalidate him as a person & how he felt about his worship of Jehovah God, you certainly can do that!
--IT CERTAINLY seems like your the one who wants an excuse to do whatever your thing is by trying to invalidate the Son of God & "GOD" himself

I know religion can be confusing with all the doctrine out there and some of it is not even Bible based. However, God is a different issue. ANYONE who wants to know God has the ability to do so. God is available to all who call on Him! No one has an excuse for "doing their own thing"! His word found in the Bible is just as valid today as it was in the past. He is the God of the past, present and future! He never changes! Find a church that is Bible based and teaches scripture! There will always be things that people disagree on and we may never know who is right until the Lord comes and sets us all straight, but the things that we are clear on we should be doing!

I agree with you completely. We have no way of knowing which religion (if any) is true. If you cut every religion down to its very core, every one is based on faith. Faith that the bible is the word of God. Faith that Muhammad was the true prophet of Allah. Faith that Moses brought down the commandments. Every single religion is based on faith (with the possible exception of Buddhism. Although, if you were practicing Buddhism like it was meant to be practiced, you would be using it as more of a philosophy than a religion anyway).
So, no, I don't use this as an excuse to do my own thing. I use it to practice my religion in the way that my faith allows, but also to recognize that people in other religions are essentially doing the exact same thing.

In the end we will all have to answer for the way that we lived our own lives. That is what it comes down to... When your sitting in the judgement seat of God, humbled before him...what will your excuse be then?...that this is all make-believe?... or will He say to you, "Well done my good and faithful servant."? In the end it'll be you're eternity that is on the line... Hell is too hot and eternity too long to be wrong!!! Think about it....

The question is, or is that just your excuse for doing your own "thing"? May the peace and blessings of G-D be upon you. Peace!

Thats true, I think that all religions that believe there is a God basically believe in the same creator God, they just perceive God in a different manner or way. There are thousands of religions in the past and hundreds in the present and all think theirs is the best one, and not all of them can be right

Exactly! Man's puny brain is incapable of comprehending anything about God. All religions are creations of men, not God. And you attempt to use the excuse of "Or is that just your excuse for doing your own "thing?" to legitimize religious nonsense. For you information, I do not " do my own thing". I respect people who deserve respect, and I am a law-abiding citizen.
