I realize that there are some trolls that want to do nothing but tick people off, I do realize that.
But I am not trying to do that to anyone. I got an email message from someone saying they will block me because of a certain person on my contact list, how childish is that?
I'm here to ask and answer questions and learn about other people while trying to explain my beliefs. I am not here for a popularity contest.
So, the real question is, why would someone block someone that is actually trying to be sincere?
Why block someone just because of someone that is on their contact list?

spiritroaming: I like your brutal honesty. If that is how you feel, then that is how you feel. At least you won't block me for the simple fact that we disagree.

pixiesbro: I made it private after people started blocking me by people on my contact list. I don't even know half of them anyway. I guess I didn't realize it was that big of a deal.

Because some people are childish and cannot stand any confrontation. It makes them feel big, I guess. I just feel sorry for them.
Example - I don't like you at all, and I think you're a bigot, but I don't block you. I even starred this question. :)

It is definitely childish. If that person does end up blocking you it will probably benefit you more anyway. I don't intentionally try to irritate or annoy anyone. But I'm sure that my opinion on things does rile some people up. I just try to ignore those people and I guess they ignore me too. I'm not sure if anyone has blocked me and I hope they never do but if for some reason someone does I'm sure I could live with it. As long as you're not purposely trying to irritate I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree you shouldn't be blocked for this, but I just found a certain person posting horrible things and I blocked him. I didn't know until I saw one question and then went back and read others from today. Frankly, I don't want to be associated with this person. That's why I blocked him.
We are given a choice and I am going to decide for myself who I'm associated with. I have that right. This is what makes Yahoo Answers so GREAT!

Oh yes, people get hostile if you have them blocked. Is this not a free country? I do block people who are racists, ones who make derogatory remarks about my Lord...
I got 2 emails today demanding I take the fake Christians off my list and said they would block me, I told em, Have at it....
They even went so far as to mention names of people on YA's. How childish they are..
I can't believe some ppl are so hung up on this, they get so irate...

I'm glad you brought this up. I've had a couple of perfectly legitimate and welll-documented questions removed... even after they'd been posted for days with lots of intelligent response. You can turn any comment into one that violates the code of conduct if you stretch the logic far enough. If honest debate is not allowed, why bother?

Eh. People block people they don't like, especially if they disagree with them....
With the exception of a known and well discussed troll, I only block people who abuse my email button.
So far, I haven't been blocked by anyone I'd ever want to carry on a conversation with....people who mistake disagreement for dislike are sucky as people and not worth discussions with.

It would be childish to block someone for no reason. I have blocked a couple of people. They were just creepy, in a stalker kind of way.

Sincere answers usually contain truth. Some can't deal with that especially if it goes against their long standing beliefs.

Ignorance is bliss. I happy to be blocked by someone, bc it tells me they don't really want to have an intellegent disscussion. They just want their beliefs rewritten.
