well... your tank... 15.58?
you mean after driving 270miles you refilled with 15.58 gallons?
the "rating" and real life are barely even related.
if you drive like its a mustang you will NEVER EVER get 28. thats gettin into 'sub-compact' territory.

The most acurate way to figure mileage is to fill your fuel tank at the same station, island and position. Write down the mileage when you fill it up. Come back to the same exact same place for a refill. Divide the miles you have driven by the amount of gas you just put in your tank. I have a 3.8 liter ford motor in an old Taurus and they are gas hogs, the cylinder heads have leaked twice.
Hope you have better luck with yours. Ford scrapped that terrible motor years ago.

you are actually running at 17.32991 miles per gallon do you have any blocked crank case breathers or are there any holes in your exhaust manifold. for a 9yr old engine of this size 17 mpg is not bad. Maclaren

no you cant do it like that. Fuel gauges are not desinged to be totally acurate. Follow the one guys instructions on figureing it out.,. he is right. obviously there is still gas in the tank.. probably at least 1-3 gallons

epa ratings are way high. the reason being they run the cars on a dyno to get the readings, they dont bring them out for real world driving. check AAA's website for a more reasonable MPG estimate.

It may be hard to keep that Mustang under 65 MPH, but it will help get a lot better mileage. Try coasting down hills, too.

It's not how much your tank holds, it how much you have to put in it to fill it up.. When you put fuel, you might have only put 12 gallons.
