I'm agnostic, but my ex gf was Christian. It's definitely a sin, and she would let me know every time I lit up.

Sin is based on the ideas of good and evil, right and wrong, however humans seem to be the only creatures who label things such (and the definitions for them vary from society to society and culture to culture). I believe we aren't capable of understanding the universal plan, not in full at least, and yet it is constantly in motion, and every action (whether we consider it negative or positive) contributes in some way to the universal plan (or God's plan if you prefer). As such, how can anything which contributes to God's plan be sin or sinful?
Perhaps the only true 'sin' as I see it is to fail to draw the positive and learn from our experiences.

If you believe the "Holy Bible" it says not to ruin the temple of your body. (not an exact quote, of course)
However, when I was a child, all the Baptists at my church would smoke out front when the service was over. They could hardly get off the front steps before lighting up. Looked like a barbecue out in front of the church.

It's a sin because it causes harm to your body and you know it. It's like falling off a cliff accidentally versus throwing yourself off. The former isn't a sin, but the latter is.

Pontif Lights and Ultra Lights were a big hit in Italy.
Deacons Menthol and Regular were also big
but the harshest smoke was Halo 100s
not as bad was Virginal Slims
I dont think its a sin, just stupid

To start smoking in today's nonsmoking - education conscience atmosphere--yes, I'd say it is a sin. Everybody is telling you it is bad for you and someone wants to do it anyway? Yes that's sin.

No, smoking is not considered a sin. A compulsion, yes; but a sin, no.
Gluttony, on the other hand, IS a sin. So, smoke if you must, but just don't overeat!

As Christians we believe that our bodies are a temple of God and that they should be kept clean and not poluted so that the spirit of God can dwell with us.
Smoking, drinking, and any other impure practice polute our bodies and make us weak.
God created our bodies in his image and has asked that we take care of them and remain healthy.

I have know many Christians who smoke, it is not their choice but it is a habit that is hard to break, they know it is bad for them. I think it is more a bad habit than a sin, I really don't think u will go to hell for it either..
